Yup. Corey said that he sold out of all his truckload pricing components.

As of right now, I can get all of the parts in the ID kit (OE Mopar parts except for a Gates timing belt and Gates accessory belt) from one, well two including my Gates belt sources, of my suppliers for under $550 if anyone is interested...

That is a good price for OE parts.

UPDATE: Found that rockauto.com sells the Gates belt for $74 plus shipping. I paid a total of $80 for a Gates belt.
Went to Ed Martin CJD to get my water pump and thermostat. I will have a total of $418ish in all. After all, I do work for Ed Martin dealerships, so I get a discount. (thermostat $93, W/P $218...same prices at wermopar.com)
And yes...I'm not replacing the idler pulleys. I work on Acura's and I've done plenty of timing belts (14 yrs) without changing the "rollers". I might do it on the second T/B.

Just go to rockauto.com and by the belt...$72.9X Plus about $8 to ship
Go to wermopar.com and by the water pump...$218.XX

Done...

Again, Im not replacing the idlers either. I have done my fair share of timing belts on Honda/Acura's and plenty of them with over 200,000 miles and have only replaced maybe 5 Timing belt idlers.

If you're there anyways, why in the world wouldn't you replace them? That would be like saying "I'm not buying insurance, I never get sick!

A lot of those Hondas/Acuras have Italian diesel engines in them? Thought not...

That belt stops moving because an idler fails and it's (Minimum) about $1000 (if you do your own work as I am currently doing this week) and immeasureable down time. In Fact, most people sell theirs after an event like that....

I mean, congrats you if you're that lucky, but I'd rather not spit in fate's face, especially with this tractor....

I was thinking this same thing when I read this. Foolish not to do it. The OE idlers can be gotten from Mopar for under $30 each if you know where to get em. In fact, my cost on them is under $26 last time I checked, and that was from a Mopar supplier... :2cents:

FWIW: The right idler bearing WAS bad/noisy/sticky/rough when I did my CRD TB at 100K. It actually surprised me. The left one was still perfect.

That being said, on an any interference engine, I always put new idlers and adjuster on a customer timing belt job unless they specifically agree (by signing the paperwork) to take responsibility for the consequences if they absolutely refuse to pay for them. I personally would rather lose the job, than have them come back later expecting a replacement engine.

I believe this is an absolute MUST on interference engines, but not so critical on the non-interference ones.

The idlers removed from Captain RixRam Jeep were wobbly. Wobbly enough to cause the belt to jump and
with 100,000 miles on the clock an idler has little life left.

I've heard it said before that some mechanics leave the idlers in and don't bother to change them because they look good. I ask.... are these idlers on Gas engines with little torque or Diesel engines?

Those who decide to keep the original OEM idlers instead of swapping them out at TB time, create the possibility of a major failure in the not too distant future. Why keep them, they cost only a few dollars, compared to thousands, it's cheap insurance.

VM engineers designed enough life in the metal of these idlers to reach 100,000 miles not more. Metal fatigue exists and if the idlers fail because of it, they will take along other moving parts when they do.

It's a foolish decision not to swap them out with new.

Sorry this is taking so long - the container from Italy is taking its sweet time to get here.

Do the belt, do the rollers, just do everything. Its once every 100k - so for every $100 you spend at this service it costs you 1/10th of a penny per mile...versus being stranded, stuck, jumping a belt etc.

I RA is often cheaper - they do the tit-for-tat game where they will always be a few bucks cheaper than you. There is only so long that game can continue, our price is $89 for the belt, free same-day shipping etc.

[*]VM engineers designed enough life in the metal of these idlers to reach 100,000 miles not more[*]

You're telling me that VM engineers are the ones who built the bearings in the rollers? Unlike EVERY manufacturer on earth, who probably use the same bearing supplier...

I've done literally hundreds, if not thousands of timing belts in my life so far. On just about everything that has rolled off an assembly line. I have never had to replace a roller, tensioner or anything else at 100k. Now at next belt service, that's a different story. Probably be smart to replace all other moving parts then.
Just my :2cents:

No, Litens does... But there have been Quite a few failures at or just over $100,000, so I'm from people like you that did not replace them with the timing belt. It's not worth the gamble, but it's your vehicle and if you want to gamble it then that's on you…
