The TCs are heavy so shipping is an issue. Given that you are only about 45 miles from IDparts going with the Euro would be prudent for the $s.

UPDATE on comparative pricing. When considering the Euro from IDparts or the Suncoast consider the following:
1. the Suncoast price as of January 2013 is $695 + a refundable core charge that's not listed but if you post an order (you don't have to actually order) the core charge is included in the shipping charge + shipping + any applicable sales tax (probably FL residents only) so delivered to me (I'm ca. 160 miles away from their shop in Ft. Walton Beach, FL) the cost is ca. $820 including about $42 sales tax as I'm in Florida. I honestly don't know what the core charge refund would be if you ship the core back but the cost of shipping it back is likely ca. $50.
2. IDparts price is as of January 2013 is $567 including the $100 core charge + any applicable sales tax (probably only MA residents)+shipping at ca. $50. Delivered to me in FL that works out to about $617. IDparts is clear that the core charge is $100 so assuming a $50 return shipping cost the net core refund would be $50 for a total out of pocket $567.

Trying to cull this down to apples vs. apples (shipping vs. pickup; sales tax vs. no tax; core return vs no core return) looks to me like the IDparts Euro cost is ca. $150-225 less than Sun Coast.

As I've said before both of these are all the TC you need and while I have the Sun Coast the deciding factor for me was I could drive over and back in one day and hang around while they did the install (TC, full Transgo kit, filters/gasket/fluid, clutch pack inspection, and a 2 year warranty on the job). If I had the time, equipment, willingness to do the TC install on my own I might have made a different decision.

Just my opinion if that's worth anything to anyone.

Update on our end -

The initial batch I bought have been sold. These were available to us because they were stocked in a local warehouse and already tagged for IDParts. I'm waiting on word about the next batch.

UPDATE - we have them, we can get them.

no offence to IDparts, but it looks like they're just selling refurbed TC's with a high markup.

These are OE Mopar, we don't refurbish these ourselves or send them "down the road" to get rebuilt by a 3rd party. The markup is actually horrendous, and being 50lbs each they occupy a lot of space on a heavy duty shelf. I'd rather not sell them, but since I had a line on the batch of Euro refurbs and people asked for it I got them. We sold out of the ones we had so this whole conversation may be moot.

What about the R8037142AA? This is the new number, is supposedly available?

R8037142AA is reported to be the Euro TC but without bolts but I cannot confirm that for sure nor do I know if it's on "export" restriction. However the online price makes me wonder as I find it hard to believe the inclusion of bolts jumps the price ca. $300 but then it's DCJ so who knows.

I guess I will have to see if Corey gets some new ones in the coming weeks. If not, I guess I will be ordering the Suncoast.

For those of you getting the Suncoast, the $109.42 shipping charges INCLUDES the core charges.

Argent??? Sent me his at shipping cost. It weighed 49.5 lbs and squeezed it in a flat rate box. I have an extra core just in case.

I've got an R8037142AA here. How do we know the R8 and the RL are the same innards?

Looks like Torqueconverter1 as a source is out. They're not using the upgraded springs (yet)

Thank you for your email.

We can produce 600SP unit with newer heavy duty springs in March.

The price will be little higher.

Thank you again,

Here is a link to the “euro” TC and a brief explaination.

http://www.idparts.com/catalog/product_ ... ts_id=3328

If you can figure this out, a LOT of people on the LOST jeep forums will buy them from you.

viewtopic.php?f=5&t=73830

here are some pictures of the problem with the original TC that came in the jeep. The problem is with the springs… when you remanufacture a TC, do you replace / upgrade these springs?

The good springs look like this:

We received confirmation from Chrysler that the Mopar torque converter part number R8037142AA is the "Euro spec" TC. This one has the updated spring capacity at 400 ft*lb. It is the same unit that used to go by 68037142AA and RL037142AA. We do not know if the four bolts are included or not, will know this when the part we ordered arrives.

The pricing is decent as well with online Mopar stores selling it for $222 plus $100 core deposit.

Since I was unsure about the R8 number - I use the RL number and thats what we all know is the "real deal". Well, everyone here was right about it being "export only".

UNTIL TODAY

I wrote the brand manager for Mopar, explaining the situation, I just got a call from one of his assistants, another Mopar product manager. The "export only" flag was simply an ERROR, and the RL number is once again available for US purchase.

Pretty darn cool, I must say, that I wrote someone and it actually made a difference. We'll see what GDE finds with the R8 number, since its less expensive I *hope* its the same internals, but I'm skeptical at this moment.

Good work Corey and Keith. I hope we find out soon, as I am in need of a TC before picking up my trailer in Albany. The MassPike is a little hilly out west.

Listed here for $203.50

This is awful cheap compare to the prices I have seen in the past. Are we sure this is the correct TC our CRD?

It will be great to have a more affordable option for tc replacement. I got the shudder pretty bad. Would like to get rid of the stock TC soon. Might as well spend more money with 90k miles and a timing belt replacement on the way.
