I have had the filter TSB and the trans & ECM update done and have had none of the problems you describe. I however had them done with less then 1000 miles, also the Liberty was always allowed a to run a good minute before being put into gear. Also it is garaged and never in any really cold starts and drive off's, if 20*F in am it usually warms up to mid or high forties in the pm. I still think you all have damaged the torque converter and or possibly other internals from having to suffer too long the shudder the improper filter and possibly put into gear to soon. I have never had the shudder problem and when the Jeep is floored it goes straight through to red line with no shudder or bogg down. Of course tomorrow the tranny could puke it's guts out all over the pavement.
Well, I used to say I had no shudder, but now it's here. Does not require heavy acceleration, just trying to maintain speed in the 55 to 62 mph range with gradual acceleration and deceleration due to traffic.
Happened three times yesterday, and now four times today. I don't know what to think. I can still accelerate moderatgely, or aggressively, through all the gears up to and beyond 80mph and the transmission shifts perfectly, but in the range listed above, I'm getting this shudder. I always idled at least 30 seconds prior to taking the transmission out of park, and it's always in a warm garage, so no cold overnight starts.
When I had the filter TSB done, the fluid and transmission pan were clean at 7000 miles, no real metal shavings-according to the technician. Now at 10,400 miles things are acting up. I'm just going to drive it until something breaks as I can't waste time chasing a ghost problem.
Any ideas? Someone one this board made the comment that the manufacturer of the CRD engine stated a while back that our torque converter was not up to the task of the CRD low rpm torque - but I can't find this statement anymore...
