Hey guys, I just picked up a CRD. I had a bad thermostat (thanks for the info on verifying the problem). I had the dealer replace it. On the trip home I got a CEL. Got home hooked up Scangauge and read it. P0401 - Issue with the ERG Flow. My question is this, I plan on eventually going with GDE tune. I did the ORM prior to the dealer visit. However I did plug the MAF sensor back in to make sure they couldn't point fingers somehow and say that this was why the t-stat failed. So it has been running for 3 days with stock setup. Tstat got replaced, trip on CEL comes on. Now if I unplug the MAF sensor, this will disable the ERG. No issues right? But my question is, does the GDE use the EGR at all? I guess what I am getting at, should I complain again to the dealer and try to have them replace the EGR? Maybe I could do it my self and save the headaches and just get reimbursed? Or should I just leave it be?

Also I inspected the CAC tubes and intake tube. Seems in good shape, bunch of oil (typical). I also got down to the turbo. I noticed no lateral (front to back) play, but some play side-to-side. Is this ok? How much is to much? No grinding marks or resistance spinning.

Thanks,
Brian

Keith is on record that the GDE tune does use a tiny bit of EGR. You would have to email him but I suspect a GDE tune will make that CEL go away.

I'm more concerned about your turbo. A bit of for/aft play is normal (nothing wrong with less though) but on side to side you shouldn't be able to feel more than a slight bare hint of movement.

Driving mine home from purchase I got a CEL w/ P0104 code, too.
The seller had replaced the EGR unit and MAP sensors prior to me taking delivery.
I added the GDE ECO tune and have never seen the CEL again.
Runs better, too :D
