Did you put Eddo's collar on your front diff?

Do you think that kept your diff in 1 piece, or did you not get your jeep into a situation you felt the extra tire size would harm it?

Nice job. Looks awesome.

I am little slow at typing so you will need to wait just a little. Hopefully I wll have something done soon. I still need, badly, to install the Bilstein 5150 shocks I ordered, and make a new rear trilink. I will be ordering the end pieces this week. Hopefully building it over the weekend. In addition, I ordered a new set of adjustable rear arms from rusty's and I am waiting for those to come in. The ones I have now I have extended to far and the rattle and move a little side to side leaving you with a loose feeling in the rear.

As for the front diff, I posted a while back that a buddy of mine did some reinforcing for me. He has a big machine shop that does things for the army. He took it for about a week, and machined an alum. collar and than welded the collar around the pinion bearing support, and than he had a .25 inch alum plate plate on the opposite side of the support mount to strenghten the case. So far so good. I did spin the front up one short 45 degree hill (like to say only three of us made to the top! Brag Brag!), no ill effects yet.

The thing I really don't like about our front ends is how loose the axle shafts fit. They move a lot. I don't know how the seals keep on working with all that movement. As soon as I get Wally's left over parts, I will start looking at getting that Dana 44 into the front. Yep a Dana 44 IFS, that would be cool. I can hear those 4.88 gears singing now! The Grand front end...I have been having a hard time connecting with the guy who has it. Its not a dana product he told me, he thinks a modified 8.25. But since it lists the gears in mm he wasn't sure.

One jumpimg rock got my front skid and forced into the bottom of the diff. Yesterday I straighten the plate out and glued a piece of neoprene (sp) to the plate so if it happens again, it will be rubber contacting the alum diff, not the steel of the skid plate.

Al

One of the things I was wondering......How does the rack&pinion do with 33's? Is it durable? and what about a stabilizer? They may sound dumb, I just never experienced rack and pinions with larger tires, thats all.

Lots of new freindly ground clearance! The jumping rocks really had a hard time today catching my undercarriage. Boy did I surprise a lot of TJ's today, went everywhere they went, and bested some of them, did high greens and low to mid blues! Lots of rocks. The tires you see are 285/75's MTR in front (very worn, but good for the trail) and Buckshots same size in the back.

Al, I see you wheel alot with the front swaybar still on. Is this cause you dont want those massive tyres to rub? or is it cause you couldnt be stuffed removing it :D!!

Something tells me those tyres would rub BADLY they way they are, let alone disconnecting that front sway bar.  Lift looks the goods though - nice one.

I leave the front sway bar connected:

1. because I am too lazy to un-bolt it

2. I am afraid of pulling the half shafts apart.

The thing does have some great flex, I hit one of the bump stops on this ride, they are still at the stock position. That is a lot of upward travel.

I may un-bolt it for the noreaster ride coming up, just to see what happens.

Is the whole intake re-routed? Or is it just pushing cooler air into the engine bay? (sorry for the minor hijack).

The reason the hood scope is their is because with the exhaust I wanted more air, so I put a cone shaped air filter right on the valve body, cut a hole in the hood and mounted the late model hood scoop.

So wen I am towing my camper (10' pop-up) I get lots of cool air in the intake and in the engine bay.
