So I'm about to order the JBA 2.5" basic lift kit and I'm going to go ahead and get the A-arms while I'm at it. Before I take the plunge, is it a good idea to get the A-arms now? If so, do I need to order some new upper ball joints as well? Is there anything else I should look into getting for the lift (just doing mild off-road stuff)?

Putting in the jba a arms at the same time as the lift would be wise. They will help in getting the front end back to factory alignment spec. The upper ball joints are included with them and should last a long time. When you do need to replace them, its like $35-40 per side (much better than replacing the whole factory a arm because the ball joint is not removable).

But, are they necessary? I have new OME HD springs/struts to be installed and wasn't planning on the arms @ this time. Has anyone installed the OME stuff on stock arms? We're you able to get the alignment to spec?

Mine has factory arms with ironman lift. Its out 0.2 degrees out of spec. I cant even tell in tire wear.

I opted for the "A" arms on my 2009 KK. Two trips back to the dealer and it still pulls to the right a little. Only if you let go the steering wheel does it start drifting. Airpres is good, tires were rotated too and still does it. Provided the dealer with specs from JBA and I have to hand it to the tech, he said it was one of the toughest lift installs he did (and this dealer does many for customers buying wranglers and KK's.) I've shelved the drift and now worried about the "popping" noise I get from the front. Someone mentioned to let the KK sit on the ground, looses the tension bar and tighten to specs. I've not done this yet but got a clear sked next week after I get my KK windshield replaced (cracked by a Michigan winter mosquito  ) on Monday and haven't been driving it much the past couple weeks. The "thunk" noise happens when I'm on level ground turning. Going forward or backward and it doesn't happen every time and there is no standard method of making it pop. Sometimes, I don't have to be moving, just turning the wheel and it sounds like it happens on ether side. :dizzy:

Make sure the dealer installed the A-Arms on the correct sides (they are side-specific). If they are backwards, it would be hard to properly align your Jeep.
