Just got the Liberty out of the shop yesterday and the transmission is working just fine now, as well as everything else power-train wise.
Anywho, I've noticed that the dome lights fail to turn off after the doors are closed.
While I could probably take this back and get this rectified by the shop since it began to occur after they fixed it, I don't feel like driving all the way to Lubbock and back just for this.

Is there possibly a switch malfunction, or something even remotely simpler that could get them to turn off while driving?
Luckily they do turn off when the vehicle's locked up.

On the left-hand stalk where you turn the lights on, there is another switch which you rotate to dim the cluster lights.
If this switch is rotated all the way forward it turns the interior lights on....maybe that is your problem?

Newp.
Played around with this a few times whilst driving and no dice.
The dash/console lights dimmed, but the dome lights remained lit.

Several things will cause this. One is a door not closed properly. For instance, it is possible to latch the rear glass closed on a not-quite-latched tailgate, thus holding both in position, but triggering the dome lights. Another is the slider at the dome light being in the wrong position.

What happens if you push on each light - one click?

This happened on my wife '05 and stayed on even when she turned it off. It was past midnight when she got home so I just disconnected the battery and planned to deal with it in the morning. When I re-connected the battery the problem had disappeared. My wife was happy but I am still bothered that I never could track down the problem.
