Owner of a 2012 Jeep Liberty Sport bought in Oct 2011... 18,000 miles. Airbag light came on.... went to the dealer by my office....they tell me the Occupant Restraint Control Module needs to be replaced (part # 68148047AB is on global back order) That's right not regional, not national, but GLOBAL. Sooooo who else is having this issue.... must be common enough to account for a global shortage, right?

Anyway because neither the Jeep dealer nor Jeep Corporate could tell me if the air bags and seat belts would work if required, nor if the EARS interface would work, I now have a rental while they await the part.

Anyone have this issue? Have any guess as to time frame for part?

Thanks,

JJ

I haven't heard of the issue, but airbags are kinda important. Also welcome, good to see a fellow New Englander on here. Any news on getting the part in?

Update: Jeep corporate case management called today (Mon) stating they have rec'd notice the part will be arriving at the dealer tomorrow (Tues), however, the dealer's computer(s) do not give any eta like Jeep corporate says. We'll see.

Anyway been enjoying driving the rental... 2011 Dodge Charger..... sweet.

Finally done.... the part apparently was delivered last Mon the 23rd at 9:26 am according to Jeep Corporate Case Manager. I was unaware and apparently so was the dealership as on Thursday the 26th I called them at 1 pm to check... no part yet... sorry. Gassed up the rental Charger for the weekend (out Fri) and got a call at 2:30... Jeep's all set.... WHAT?. Yup they said the part came in after my call. Jeep Corporate not happy with dealer for not being aware part was at the dealership Monday.

Anyway was not going to bring the rental back full I drove it for the weekend and picked up the Jeep Mon. Finally done after almost 3 weeks.

I have to say that Jeep Corporate was extremely accommodating, professional and helpful....

Glad everything worked out ... This is the first I've heard of this issue.
