What's the quickest best way to remove the exhaust manifold/turbo. There is a water leak behind it I need to find or get to.

Take a look at GDE's instructions on installation of the Stage II turbo for the steps to remove the OEM turbo. Before you do that though take a look at the engine pictures I've posted at viewtopic.php?f=98&t=74594 . The only place for a water leak there, other than head gasket is the oil cooler that's located forward of the turbo. I suspect you can get to that by removal of the air filter box and the forward heat shield.

Hi papaindigo.

I have the air box out. It seems quite difficult to get to. Man it bugs me to see how dirty my engine is. I don't see where else it could be leaking either. The water is running down the outside of the passenger side (us) flywheel housing.

Thoughts for what it's worth:
1. water is used to cool oil via the oil cooler on the passenger side that I mentioned and the EGR valve on the back driver side of the engine. It's possible for either one of those coolers or the associated hoses to leak.
2. have you "tasted", just more or less simply by touching a bit of the fluid to your tongue, to confirm that it's water mixed with antifreeze? I ask because the AC/heater box drain vents into that area somewhere and what you are seeing could simply be condensed moisture dripping out of that vent.
3. if it is water mixed with antifreeze it could be a leaky heater line as they route above that area or it could be a leaky heater core which would drain thru the vent mentioned above
4. could be overflow from the coolant tank on the firewall or a cracked tank or a leaky line to that tank or a leak where the coolant level sensor enters the tank. FYI the tank is held to the firewall by, IIRC, 2 machine screws and a flange that engages the bottom of the tank. To remove the tank undo the machine screws and slide the tank forward off the flange being careful of the hoses and the coolant level sensor wiring.

Hopefully it's not a head gasket issue.
