Hi all, I'm new to the forum and am trying to trouble-shoot a leak coming from my tranny. I've been looking at lots of posts recently and am greatly impressed at the helpful info available from this site. I tried searching for others with similar issues but was not able to find anything.

First off some details:
-2002 4x4 liberty (Sport)
-45RFE transmission
-~150 000 km

I noticed a small leak of red transmission fluid around the rear of the transmission pan. Tracing it above the pan it appears to be coming from the passenger side of the tranny, originating at the transmission temperature thermistor (part 9 on this page: http://www.factorychryslerparts.com/showAssembly.aspx?ukey_assembly=624901&ukey_product=4411857 ).

The clip has a red tab and an 8mm bolt above it. (The leak isn't visible in the pic below because I've cleaned it up)

I am having trouble accessing the bolt to remove it, but can't seem to figure out how to remove the clip. Before I break it I was wondering if anyone has removed this and serviced it before? Can you unplug the wiring before detaching the bolt above? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

Okay, I managed to unbolt the sensor and then get it unclipped. upon close inspection, the sealant around the outside of the sensor is cracked. I now also realize that this is actually a pressure sensor, not a temperature sensor.

You can see the crack where transmission fluid was leaking in this image:

Part appears to be ~$100 but I might try to reseal it myself
