The manual cloth seats in our CRD are pretty much toast. I have located a low mileage 2006 3.7L Liberty that has power leather seats (and the full interior for that matter).

For you guys who might have blazed this trail already, will my 2006 CRD have the power seat harness already installed (plug and play?) or do I need to harvest the power seat harness from the 2006 3.7L donor vehicle? Tried doing some searches on here and the only thing I found was a short thread on using 2002 power seats in a 2005 CRD (actually using part of the 2002 seat and part of the 2005 seat). Is a 2006 gas power seat not electrically compatible with a 2006 CRD? Is there a good thread on this subject here that I might have overlooked?

Hope this upgrade/swap can work without too much fuss as I will be able to upgrade my worn 130k+ mile interior with one a pristine one from an extremely low mileage donor.

Many thanks for your help!

Why do you say the cloth seats are toast? Are they ripped, or is it just the annoying spotting that they do?

For the spots, here is an easy fix that can be done at any time, and really works great:

Buy a spray bottle of Febreeze (plain water would work too, but Febreeze makes the car smell nicer) and use it to mist the entire seat. Get the whole thing damp, so that it is an even coat. Now, leave the car alone for at least a couple hours - go to the mall, see a movie, whatever.

When you come back - your seats will look like new again.

Geordi,

There are some stains on the seats and some crud on the carpet in the back. The left-hand bolster on the driver's seat split at the seam from all the in and out movement. The interior was weak when we bought it. Acquiring a pristine interior in the same color seemed like a great oppurtunity to freshen up the interior. Shouldn't take more than a couple of hours to swap everything out.

Since the leather seats from the 3.7 Liberty are power seats I am just looking for some guidance on if my CRD is prewired to accept them. I suppose I could try to take the leather seat covers and cushions off and try to install them on their fabric-covered cousins but I would really like to make the power seats work.

I tried Fabreeze on some of the seat upholstery where one of our employees spilled Stanadyne additive. Took a lot of Fabreeze to get rid of that stink.

I have access to the gas Lib's dash and console assemblies as well as the steeting wheel that has radio controls in it in addition to the cruise control. Do you know what else I might be able to shift from the gas Lib to the CRD?

My next big project on this is to replace the A/C evaporator core. Not looking forward to it but it is doable. Do you know if any of the HVAC stuff on the gas Lib will work on the CRD, i.e., A/C compressor, lines, etc?

Any light you or fellow CRDers could shed would be greatly appreciated!

Fair winds

You are going to have to do some digging and I'd suggest you start by getting the 05 and 06 FSMs and parts manuals from Sam's NOOB site (05 FSM lacks diesel cooling data and diagnostics cut has illustration keys while 06 is the reverse).

What I know and/or am willing to speculate about:
1. front and rear seats should interchange between same year gasser and CRD. Rear seats would be just a bolt and go. Front seats are a bit different. At least the passenger seat has an airbag sensor that adjusts air bag deployment based on weight in the seat so you probably saw chat about moving that sensor when installing earlier model seats. Power seats with or without heat are, I suspect pretty much self contained in that the power and heat need power run to them. I don't know where the switch for heated seats is but for power adjustable seats the switch is on the seat and all you would need to do is make it "hot" to work. I suspect you could direct wire but if you can get the harness with the donor seats then by all means do so although I suspect you could splice into an existing circuit to make them work. NOTE - see viewtopic.php?f=5&t=62506 - looks like the air bag sensor may be coded to the vehicle and has to be swapped.
2. some AC/Heat parts interchange and some don't best consult the parts fiche. For example the dash controls are the same and I suspect the ducting is but the compressors are not, don't ask me why, and I have no clue about the condensors.
3. radio controls should be movable from gasser to crd - I know I've seen a post on how to but unfortunately I did not retain the link or recall who did the post. You might just post that question.
4. cruise - I have no clue how gasser/crd cruise operates but I suspect to wheel mounted controls are the same although the other end my be entirely different. I do know that if you add cruise it won't work unless the ECU is "told" to turn cruise on.

Best I can do.

I did it.

Get the harness as far back as possible.

make sure that the wires and connectors that connect the seats are not cut, tell the yard that you want to keep as much of the harness intact as he can get.

You will need to install a relay to activate power to the power seats, located near the left side of the brake pedal area.

The heat seat part of the connection, I still have not figured out how to make work......

if you do a goggle search ... you will find the write up. it takes some time but you can do it.

Thanks papaindigo and racertracer-

I'll do some more searching around on the site here to see if I can find any more information on this swap. I believe I did read that if my carpetting under my front seats had a hole in it that the factory installed harness might be coiled up under there which might make this a plug and play. I haven't checked this out yet, but will try to pull a front seat this evening to see what, if anything, is there.

Base on what you guys have said I think I will go ahead and harvest as much as I can from the gasser Lib-harness, dash, steeting column & wheel, etc., but minus the compressor. I'll just take my time sorting it out.

Thanks again for your guidance.

Btw, racertracer, big assumption here- ever run on track at Limerock?
