Dropping the trans out of the truck and I have hit the same stumbling block many others have... pulling the cooler lines. Thus far I have popped loose the white plastic rings and slid them down the line, but can't figure out what is next.

Anyone have a clue how to get these out? I want to do this right, not a cut/splice job.

You should see a small "W" clip under those covers you pulled back, carefully remove those and the line will pull out.Make sure to be carefull and not stretch or bend them as they need to be put back in before snapping the line back into place. They make a special tool to release that "W" clip without removing it but there a joke most times and I always remove them myself.Don't loose them either, though most auto parts stores will have some replacements in the "Help" section.

Thank you, while that was posted I went out and found exactly what you described. Clips are off, lines are cleared, and I am at the point of pulling the t-case and dropping the trans out.

Should I separate the t-case per the FSM, or just drop both it and the trans out at the same time?

I separated the t-case, but I pulled it to check it first anyway. I did put the tranny up first and then the t-case when I put it back toegether. Even with a tranny jack, it made it a lot easier to do them separately as together is a bit unwieldy.
