Where's the best place to find an intermediate shaft for the KJ? Also, is there a write up somewhere on replacing those?

All that I've heard of are pretty much the same price anymore. Some have bought them on EBay I know
Easy to do, pull the CV out and most times the Intermediate Shaft comes out with it

No special tools or anything? When installing the new intermediate shaft does it just "click" into the front differential? Does it seal somehow in the differential? No fluid loss or anything?

Sorry for all the of the questions but I had a friend of a friend do my drivers side CV and ball joints because I haven't had time to do the work and I think he may have screwed up at least one of my brake sensors as now several lights on on the dash. So, I just want to make sure if I decide to do this myself (probably with some help) that I get it done right.

Intermediate shaft has clips on the end that just "pop" back in
No special tools to R&R it just the same as R&Ring a CV
Sometimes they will stick but it should be fairly easy to remove

Thanks again for all of your help Tom. I was about ready to sell the Liberty but if I replace and fix all of these things I might just have to hold on to her for a little while longer. I was going to move over to a Grand Cherokee for my non-nice weather car as I'm getting a 2014 Mustang.

I can pretty much tear one whole side of my jeep down with a 21mm open box end wrench and a socket set. The only little specialty items you will need is a torque rated for 100 lb/ft and a rather large socket (35mm - 36mm) for the hub nut. And as for the lights on the dash i would check the other side for a broken abs wire which are cheap and easy to replace all you will need there is and allen wrench and some patients.

Yeah, we did the lift on my Jeep and did ball joints once (long story) so with some assistance I'm confident I can do the work. I think this guy knows he broke something and is not calling me back. Would the brake sensor cause the cruise control to stop working as well?

Is this the right part for the brake sensor. I'll be checking other stores as well.

Is there another name for the intermediate shaft? I'm not finding them on any of the auto parts web sites or even Amazon. At least, not one that seems to for sure be for the Liberty. Also, I'm only seeing brake sensors for the left side.

Yeah, I decided against used and ordered from Automotive Parts Unlimited. I probably should have asked this first, but do I need any other gaskets, seals, bushings, bearings or anything? Recommended grease to apply before installing?

Funny think about those ABS sensors. I can find the passenger one at Auto Zone but the driver side is special order. Looks like I'll be getting parts from 3 different places.

With the abs sensor I would only replace the side that needs it and hold on to the other sensor. Also might want to get something to set your spindle on while you pull your CV to just make your life a little easier

Bungee strap will hold it up as well I pop mine loose top and bottom both so its easier and takes 10 seconds longer is all

I got a short bucket used to have chlorine in it. Or you could do like time I would suggest a hammer or 2 to knock the axle from the spindle and extra set of hands makes that easier but with my bucket no second set of hands needed.

I'm lucky in that a friend of mine has been willing to help (helped with lift and first ball joint debacle). This time he's practically insisting we do the work rather than me paying someone. All he needs is food and maybe some beer :)

Got my intermediate shaft and we're scheduled to install it (along with new CV axle and ABS sensors) on Thursday. Now I've discovered what I believe to be differential fluid leaking in the front drivers side. I'm not exactly sure where it's coming form but I believe it's from where the driver's side CV goes into the differential. That's one I had a guy replace for me a couple of weeks ago. Is it possible he did something wrong or could it just be time to replace an axle seal? I had the passenger side replaced back in January.

Back to the intermediate shaft. I thought I read in another thread something about greasing parts of the shaft or using anti seize?

Anti sieze or a good grease is suggested on the splines just to make your disassembly easier in the future. Also sounds like he might of torn seal reinstalling everything. Looks like you might be pulling both sides to correct your issues.
