Dealers here locally are selling them for as much as 17K and they have issues. Im selling mine for around the same but with many upgrades. Im not firm on the price either but we shall see what happens in the coming weeks.

A guy emailed me this morning and said he would give me 7500 cash for it. I told him the dealer offered me 9500 for trade in and the guy called me a liar. All the low ball offers are getting really annoying.

We almost bought one from a dealer at that price with 50k+ miles on it. There is another nearby with 72k for about 14-15k. I appreciate your mods, but that is a serious premium.

that is the problem with most people. They think that if they get a low mileage CRD then they have no issues because it doesn't have enough miles on it to have an issue. But unfortunately that is not the case there are some high mileage CRDs that have no issues especially if modifications have been done

I work on these things almost every week and the ones that seem to have the most issues are the people that baby them and have low miles. now that's not to say that you can't get a good one with low miles but beware just because it has low miles doesn't mean that it is cherry.

Bingo! And most people that buy these think that just driving around town and short trips is good for the car not realizing that diesels need to be ran and fully warmed up. Diesels are workhorses run it and take care of it and it will go for ever.

Well, I was shopping for one, and I had 2 in my sights... One was 65K miles and 14K, the other was 145 and 6900... I bought the 6900 one and am doing the suncoast converter, head gasket, studs, gde tune, and some other stuff. And I'll still be less than the low miles one... And set for years.

I think most people don't quite understand the difference between "worn out" and "needing deficiencies rectified".

The latter is what the CRD needs, as did things like the 89-93 Dodge / CTD (turbo change and torque converter / nv4500 change), which are near bulletproof - except for specific items. Or, the '94 - up 4WD dodges and the track bar issues.

sigh... I see this on Craigslist and I want to buy it. Problem is that the bank wont loan above book value regardless of mods and I don't have a spare 6k laying around. maybe it will still be available when I do. we shall see.

great looking rig.

There is a difference between low ball offers and in the clouds asking price. Dealerships always get more of a premium as they A) are supposedly inspected by the service dept and any safety issues resolved and B) they can offer financing. Private party value is always a fair bit less and the mods you've got done to it seem to be largely maintenance items rather than upgrades with the exception of the GDE tunes and maintenance items are expected to be done at the blue book value, not adders to the prices for blue book value.

I'm not in agreement with the largely maintenance items comment versus upgrades. The TC alone meets or exceeds the current available market item. Transgo, sonnax, BD breather kit, stainless exhaust without restriction are just a few that come to mind right now. I understand where you're going on the price as everyone knows when you're selling something you start higher than lower. I have one of these beautiful machines in my opinion in prefect condition. One where a buyer will have no worries. This is the reason for my starting price.
