Mack came up from Nashville this weekend and we (he) did my timing belt replacement and while we were in the neighborhood we did the rockers and lifters also. So glad I had someone that had done this before because I'm sure that even with the guide that I would have gotten lost somewhere. The old belt showed signs of wear as well and discovering a bad tensioner. I was at 116k at install. The rockers were worn down at least 1/8th on the bottoms so that was definately not a waste of time or money to replace them. I couldn't believe the gunk built up in my intake. I didn't get any pics but it was pretty bad. I did a through cleaning of the intake and innercooler while I had them out. After all this work I still have a (hopefully small) issue. I have code P0610. I had it before the new work so it isn't a new thing. I had heard some talk that possably the worn rockers may have something to do with this but no dice. The rig does run a little better but still not what it had when I first got it about 50k ago. I am still getting the "woosh woosh woosh" back pressure sound at the turbo when it is lugging under 2k rpm and you are giving it throttle. Above 2k it isn't there and power picks up but under 2k rpm in high gear converter locked and it does this. Can anybody tell me if the code and back pressure problem may be related and or how I can correct both. Thanks again to Mack. He is top knotch good people.

I seem to recall someone else having this code that would not clear, and it turned out to be a faulty ECM. It affected the turbo. You may be in the same boat. Try unplugging the computer and waiting a minute or two before reconnecting it. Then try to clear the code again. May or may not help, but it is worth a shot. Good luck.

P0610 has popped up on the forum from time to time and shows as an automatic transmission miscoded in the ECU, IIRC, as a manual transmission and I can certainly see that impacting turbo performance. If MRausch82's suggestion doesn't fix it I'd recommend contacting Keith at GDE IIRC he can fix this problem as part of a GDE tune which you need to get if you don't have one or advise you on a replacement ECU.

On the sound have you checked 1) both intercooler hoses for cracks/holes/etc and 2) the airbox to turbo hose for a split on the bottom just in front of the turbo (FYI be sure to push the upper end of this hose onto the airbox outlet until it touches the MAF sensor before tightening the clamp lest you crush the plastic airbox outlet)

Yeah new hoses and all clamps are tight. I haven't tried unplugging the ecm yet but we had the battery out for a day for the tb job though. I know in other applications that would have cleared the codes. I'll try unplugging it. I did talk to Keith and he said that he could fix the code when he does my tune. I'll have that done soon but I'm planning on parking the CRD till then. I don't want to hurt anything.

There are great people here. For sure!

Nice to get all that done before something bad happened.

Good luck with your CRD.

There sure are. Not like the Volvo crowd I am used to... lots of a$$holes there. Hexus is a good guy, indeed. I've met a few good folks on here...
