You need to take out the fan first, and those 2 (fan and shroud) came out together. If you search the forum (search for "fan shroud mod"), there is a mod most of us did, which separates the shroud in 2 pieces, top and bottom, so next time you won't have to take your fan out. Just pay attention when you take the fan out, you could mess up your radiator with the fan blades. Other than that, I remember there is a wrench Napa sells (you can buy kits from sears, but they cost more), a low profile, that would make your life easier and allow you to fit it in easier than a crescent. Before you start though, put plenty PB Blaster over that big nut and let it soak for a while.
