Just got back from Colorado and New Mexico. Did Ophir pass, last dollar road, mineral creek, engineer pass (both directions), cinnimon pass & goose lake trail. I saw an un modified new ford explorer coming down cinnimon (looked 2wd). Front was barely scraping and looked liked it would bottom out at any momment. I was amazed that he took it out there. I also passed a prius trying to make it to animas forks from silverton. The road is classified as 2wd, but it is really rough. He must have turned around because I never saw him at the ghost town. It ended far too soon. Full trip report and pictures comming to my tread when I can get them from my family's cameras.

Ha ha, probably so. I'm going to take it out on the highway tomorrow with my Garmin to see how much the speedometer is off. I can calibrate the scangauge's speedo readout to compensate for the difference, so I don't get pulled over, lol. I think I read somewhere recently that the MPH should be off by about 4% going from 225's to 245-75-R16's. I'm assuming the Jeep will be faster than the speed displayed on the dashboard because the larger tires have fewer rotations for the same distance. Entering mileage into Fuelly will take a bit of math now to convert the trip odometer into actual miles traveled between fill-ups.

Should be 4%. That's what I've been using to correct mine. Honestly it "shouldn't" change too much. I notice around town, my KK swallows gas now, but highway didn't change "too" much.

When you calibrate the speedo with your scangauge, doesn't that also correct the odometer?

Unfortunately no. But it gives me the correct mph on the Scangauge itself, so that the displayed mpg will be closer to being right. The calibration I needed to make the scangauge display the same speed as the gps was 2%.

Looks good! Is that a Rola rack?
What do you think of having the spare tire up there? Do you need to hire a crane to get it on/off? :dizzy: I just upgraded to 245/75/R16's and they are heavy! Your tires/rims look much bigger. :D

FYI, I wrote up a how-to for adding HD cooling to KK's without the tow package in the KK Tech section. Link:

Plasti-dipped the grille and painted the tow hooks on Friday.

East coast you see a lot of stanced vehicles, cars, trucks, SUVs, Jeeps, anything. Even though we have horrible roads, it's definitely a popular look. You should see the Subarus, VWs and Audis in Jersey, all have tires sticking out way past the fenders.

Hanging out a tiny bit/flush isn't bad. That makes a nice useable stance. What I hate seeing are the tires stretched to fit on rims WAY too wide. I'm not talking like 245s on an 8" rim, I mean when people try to make that fit on a 9 or 10" wide rim. It's bad for tires, bad for traction and just plain unsafe. I see a lot of the full sized trucks doing it. The big pickups and Hondas seem to be the worst. Lets not get started on that "hella flush" bs lmfao

Btw, nice to see ya back digger.
