Picked up my CRD this morning. Love it. I expect to put like 35K miles per year on this vehicle. Reading all the information it looks like the Provent is a good idea. There are a lot of different install threads but I haven't found a good page showing a full walkthrough with all the parts I'd need. Anyone point me? I'd like to do this FAST since I'll start putting miles on it right away.

Wait for oldnavy's CCV it will be a lot cleaner looking and save all the extra room you have in the engine compartment for maintenance.

I think it's the middle of next month for tests, may be available 1 July if I remember right.

That's what posted at the design site.

Boxhead posted an excellent HOWTO pictorial on the Provent last October. He may still have the pics...

Switch from the factory 0W-40 oil to Shell Rotella T 5W-40 Synthetic. It's designed for our closed ccv system diesels and has less vaporization effect under high temp. This will minimize the oil problem while you wait for the "old navy ccv".

Good advice about the oil, it does make a difference.

Good advice. I'll do that. Pep Boys or AutoZone carry it? Is the Mobil 1 SUV & Truck 5W-40 the same way? Thanks!

Yes and some would say the Mobil 1 T&SV is even better then the Rotella T, but in our normal length of ownership it would probably not make any real difference. The Rotella is cheaper then Mobil 1 and some other synthetics. Just find the CI+ rated 5w-40 diesel oil and truck on. Wal-Mart carries the Rotella T as does most auto parts stores and truck centers.

Thanks again. I plan to be in the first batch to get your solution when it's available. I expect to put 200K miles on the CRD..and then retire it to a trail rig in a couple of years so I want it to last.
