Tom,

I know you know your stuff when it comes to lifts and a spacer lift is not a good idea for lifting a Jeep. As for the Patriot there is only two options a coil lift from Australia or the RRO spacer lift. I went with the spacer lift only because I had a dealer install it. In hindsight I should've gone with the coils. There was nothing wrong with the spacer lift and RRO did a great job on the product.

Ted I have their roof rails as well. Also in hindsight I would have bought the rack from atthehelm if I knew he sold them before I bought it.

The only issue I have with RRO is their directions suck.

Glad you have the same interest in that! Only been to a few and I think they're so cool! This one is in Giles, VA off 460. No way to get up past the first level though  Great views from the top of the mountain though, yesterday it was cloudy so it wasn't as good but I went Sunday night to that same spot and seeing a few smaller cities/towns all lit up was awesome

There is one over in there called the Butt Mountain tower is that it?
Been years years since I've been there
also a nice waterfalls nearby as well if memory serves me.
Used to know a couple of the guys who worked at the towers in West Virginia back in the day. Been up in a few but would never want to sit there all day long
There was even one that their home was up there as well, small "apartment/room" to live I think it was the only one in WV built that way. It was pretty cool .

OK curiosity got to me , the one with the room for them to live in was at the Thorny Mountain Fire Tower in Seneca State Forest. They are now repairing it to rent out to folks to actually stay in it overnight. I was there back in the mid 70s and its a beautiful location

It is Butt Mountain Tower, didn't know the name til Google/tommudd confirmation  Absolutely gorgeous waterfalls in the area too, we saw one a bit off the path and it was flowing well. Just a really cool area down here

Ha glad my mind still works a little bit!
We were back in there one winter also the falls was frozen over and it was beautiful. But in the summer it always seemed to be 20 degrees cooler back at the falls.
Now I'll have to see if I still have any pictures from back then

Anyone with a black lifted KK from Charlotte?

There's one or two same setups like mine in the tri-state area, not sure about that area though.

I am working on the kill switch when the car is in motion and I switch on the interiors lights without turning on the paddle light. More pictures coming soon.

Here's some quick shots of what I've done the past few weeks:

Installed kicker 6.5" two way speakers up front. They sound much better than stock, even on the stock HU. I might get another pair for the back and then get some better tweeters too. Also in my mind is a 4 channel amp, not sure where to install it though.

Image

Installed LEDs in all the courtesy lamp spots + license plate lamps. Looks so much better than the orange glow of the stock lamps. They were kind of bright up front though, which leads to the next project.

Image

I added a bulb to the front dome lamp and whipped up a jumper harness that goes between the stock harness and light that cuts the courtesy circuit to the lamp and feeds it to the added LED only. The constant feed stays the same, so the lamp only turns on with the button. The end result is a bright white light for the courtesy circuit and a red light for the map lights, which will be better for keeping my night vision. I might post a how to if anyone is interested

Image

Last but not least, I colored in my intake hose. I was very bored and it was a good use of 15min.

Try a split point drill bit and run it a little slow. Maybe put a drop or two of cutting oil, taping fluid works best.

I googled tips for drilling through car frames. Some tow hitch company recommended a cobalt drill bit, which worked for me the first time but snapped cause of the heat. I think I'm gonna see if I can grab another one from Lowes or Home Depot tomorrow. I tried a basic oxide drill bit from Dewalt, and another from Milwaukee. The original bit I used was a cobalt dewalt bit, which worked, just took forever. I believe it was a split tip.

If your drill has a variable trigger, run the rpm's a little slower. That'll keep the tip from overheating and getting dull prematurely. Cutting oil helps to overcome the friction as well. Another option would be to drill a 1/8" pilot hole first.

We had the same problem with breaking drill bits. I can't remember but I think we did the pilot hole idea. Our uni-bodies are VERY strong.

Just got back from a day of wheeling! :JEEPIN: Made it up a hill that 2 wranglers (32's and 33's) couldn't. The one on 32's almost rolled. I had to jump on his tire while they strapped him. This trip was also the first time I ever had to be winched up an obstacle.
I'll post more pictures in my trip thread when I have them sent to me.
