Got an alignment today. Camber is off, and so is caster, causing the cross castor to be off(which I'm fine with caster and cross castor, that doesn't wear the tires. The best they were able to do was get the camber to 0.3* both sides.

Nice. 5 tire rotation? That is my plan.

I passed the 75,000 mile mark today. :JEEPIN: Jeepy's come a long way since I got her with 23900 miles! The scary thing is that was only two years ago. :dizzy: I drive a lot.

Quick question for those of you who regeared. Going from 3.73 to 4.10, with 254/75/R16's, how many MPG did you gain on average?

I am wondering how long it would take to break even, given I drive 25k a year. For example, at 25,000 mi / 16 mpg * $3.75/gallon = $5859 per year in gas (16 is what I am getting now). The same calculation with 19 mpg (+3) gives me $4934 per year in gas, a difference of $925 a year. Just gaining 3 mpg means I could pay for a $3000 regear in about 3 years, or $2000 in 2 years, just with saved gas money. Considering I will keep this Jeep until it dies, say about at 250K miles, that is 7 more years of driving it if I'm lucky.

So is an average of 19 mpg realistic for a 4.10 regear? What would 4.56's do for it? Thanks Jeepers.

I was at about 12 when I regeared. The performance alone is reason enough in my opinion. It made a HUGE difference. I also added trutracs. I think I get about 15-16 now.

+4 MPG and some more oomph would be awesome. I am getting about 13 city / 19 highway now (16 combined). You run 4.10s now, right Ted? Do you wish you went with 4.56's?

Regearing is worth it just for the fact you'll have more power in the hills etc.
Gas mileage would be 2-3 on the average I would say for the KKs from what I have read and seen. I didn't regear until after I went to 265-75-16s but had dropped to 15-16 on the road, afterwards back to 20-21

I wish I was getting the mileage you guys get. Most I ever saw was about 20mpg, pure highway(think the skyslider might kill it? It was open the whole time). I used to average about 16ish for my week of driving, mixed city/highway when stock(again skyslider open almost all the time, even in the winter...). Now I'm getting about 14ish with the lift and 245/75-16 Duratracs.

I have the sky slider too and have been wondering how it effects mileage recently. Still have yet to come up with a solid test. It's not easy getting good mileage in the KK, but some basic hypermiling tips can surely help. My average this summer was anywhere between 17.5 -21. I rarely get on the highway.

If I could run the whole tank on the highway I'd get 22 or slightly better. Anything under 50mph seems harmful to my mpg. My recent purchase of a ScanGauge2 will hopefully help my mileage. Filled up this morning for 18.2 mpg which is .4mpg better than last tank.

I feel like it definitely kills some mileage. I mean, I'm not too far off from some forum users that have a solid roof. Honestly, as long as it isn't raining or snowing my top is most likely open. In the fall/early spring around 50*+ I just put the windows up, and around 45ish* windows up and heat is fine for me. Now don't get me wrong in the dead of winter, that top is closed, but I'm also not making my 70 mile commute and just do A LOT of city driving.

Gageraid, did have you thrown larger tires on yet?

Nope. Still on stock tires 225/75/16 if I remember correctly without looking. Still have a lot more reading (which I plan on starting soon) before I ask questions and purchase new tires.

If I learn anything helpful about my driving with the ScanGauge2, I do plan on sharing that information with others. I still believe there are improvements to be made that I'm looking past somewhere. Right now what kills me is the really short trips to and from work which is why I try to go the long way when I have time.

Definitely keep us posted on what you find. And I feel you on the short stop and go trips, especially now with the larger tires(they were more noticeable at 1st, now I guess I'm used to them). My town is the worst with stop signs. If you aren't on a main road and make it more than 2 blocks without a stop sign, then you're in luck or they haven't gotten around to putting a stop sign in yet :banghead:

Well, I hope you're able to "get on it" from time to time. I just started doing a few full throttle runs per tank the past few months and makes it feel slightly smoother around town.

Yea 4.10's. I actually got talked out of 4.56's and a Detroit locker. If I'd known that the guy I was talking to barley had a clue I wouldn't have listened to him. I wasn't sure if I wanted to go 31" or 32" for tires, now I'm pretty sure I don't want to go bigger than 31". From what I've found, 4.10 will bring 32" tires close to the stock ratio and I want more performance than that. 4.56 gears will be hard to find, I think superior is the only ones who make them and when I was looking they were on national backorder.
The power increase with 4.10's is off the hook with 30" tires (245/75-16)
Image
I shouldn't lose much power with the 31x10.5-15 mud tires I plan to put on. If you're wondering if I have any regrets about changing gears, no I don't. I probably would've gone somewhere else to have it done but I'm glad I did it.
I have never seen better mileage than 16 mpg, ever in my KK. That's what I got after she broke in a little, 12 mpg for the first couple weeks. I don't have an EVIC or scangauge to tell what I'm getting, just a calculator at the pump.

If you regear, that's the perfect time to upgrade your axels by adding lockers, limited slip or both. I think the perfect setup would be a Detroit locker in the back and a Detroit Trutrac in the front. 4.56 gears and 32" Mickey Thompson Baja TTC radials. You'll have to beat down the pinch welds and change the backspace on a different set of rims. I'm not sure but there may be a little trimming on the factory plastic but you should be ok if you have a steel bumper as that part will be gone when the plastic bumper fascia thing is removed.
That's what I've learned so far for what it's worth. If you rarely go off road and you want good street manners stick with DTT's front and rear. You won't even know they're there until you need the traction. Btw, they're a perfect compliment with the brake lock traction control we have. It's like they were made for each other.
:JEEPIN:

Oh of course I do. I do a lot of highway driving for school and half of it has about 5 lights or so on a 55mph road. So I get my harder driving in there, or when I'm just pissed off.

Changed my transfer case fluid. Took about 30 mins. Also snapped a few pics for if anyone needed reference in the future.

Things you'll need: One Jeep Liberty KK,

Image

A drain bucket, ATF+4, and a 10 mm allen wrench.

Check that the fill plug is able to loosen.
Image

Now put your fill bucket underneath and loosen and remove the drain plug.

Image

After it's drained, replace the drain plug, and add your fluids to the fill plug finish.

Ordered a new antenna. Got a 36" whip with a magnetic mount and I have it on and like it so far.

Also picked up a WiFi OBD II port plug in and I'm going to try to get an app for my phone or iPad and check it out. The plug in was $20 or so on Amazon so I couldn't resist
