Lately the kk has had minor stalling issues upon decelerating and stopping the rpms drop to around 500 causing the ac fan to reduce power like the engine is about to shut off.

The jeep will run this way fine under load but the exhaust has sounded different.

Was curious if build up on the throttle body could lead to rough idle

I'm also interested in what ideas you may have as to what's going on?

Gageraid how do you clean your throttle body?

Found the issue. kind of... The stall was due to the tranny staying in a high gear at low speed
I've yet to figure out the vent surging problem

just thought I'd throw an update out there

Take your intake tube off. I'm assuming yours is stock. Take some throttle body cleaner and a one of those blue shop towels and gently spray around the butterfly and work the butterfly with your hand. Wipe excess off. You don't need too much to clean it. Don't be surprised if it's a little rough to start, but should run and shift a little better after. Let me know if I can help anymore.

Not really. I no longer stall. That issue was my own fault, but i still get voltage drop when comming to a stop making my A/c fan surge.

Is it possible that maybe just the jump from 14v to 12v as the engine's rpms drop is causing this?

I doubt it's the problem, but did ya try cleaning the throttle body?

Couple of months old. Had a battery die on me before that all of the sudden. One day it worked and the next it was gone.

I havn't had any problems with this one so far.

You may want to at least take a volt meter and test battery voltage before startup, and then with the engine running with everything on(A/C, blower on hi, wipers, high beams) to rule out your alternator.

Will do! It's possible with the mud bath it had that something may be amiss inside it but I won't know for sure until I check.

Best way to kill an alternator.

What's the verdict?

Alternator is running like a champ.

Other possibility: bad fuel/clogged fuel filter?

I'm just eliminating variables

Try unplugging and plugging your throttle body.

Threw an engine code today. P1404 - EGR Position Sensor Rationality Closed

Going to clean the throttle and the EGR and see if that solves my idle issues.

My new problem is I have red "Brake" light thats comming on when I'm stopped. I assume I have a tail light going out because it's a steady light and not a pulse (as if it were my E-brake engaged) and it only does it intermittently.

Since that light I've noticed a loud clicking noise while in park depressing and releasing the brake pedal coming from the center console near the gear shifter.
I'm currently running LED bulbs as tail lights and have noticed when I unlock the vehicle with the remote that the left tail light will come on with the turn signal.
Any Experiences/Ideas? Brake light relay going out? I'm going to try just re-installing the old bulbs for now to see if it remedies the problem.

Please take a picture of the EGR valve when you take it out. I've been curious about it.

Will do, When I purchased the vehicle it was failing emissions due to a faulty EGR. It looks like the dealership or the prev owner tried to replace it but stripped one of the bolts.

After I bought it we drilled the old bolts re-threaded and re installed a new EGR. I've had no problems with it since then until now. Will have photos and updates as the day goes on.

Here are a few photos I snapped of the EGR for ya Gage.
Image
the full valve.
Image
The gunked up mess it resids on top of
Image
The pin(inside) after a liberal spraying of throttle body cleaner
Image
And a bottom shot of the valve after a cleaning.

I didn't clean the gunked up base as much as I would have liked but it's not terribly hard to remove as long as your engine is cold when you remove it
I found out the hard way after driving into town to pick up a few last minute supplies. Tried to remove the bolts while still warm and ripped off a bolt head :banghead: Luckily i was able to grab the rest of the bolt with vice grips and remove it

After a long night I have cleaned the throttle body(it was gross) and the EGR(also gross) took the jeep for a spin and TADA no codes(for the moment) no lag on the throttle like before and no surging from the air vent fans while decelerating.

The build up on the throttle body wasn't SUPER terrible but it was enough that it wasn't fully able to close causing a rough idle and a sticky throttle.

there are a few posts on here and jeep forum about egr valves as well. if you're looking to remove it or find out what it would take to do so they are a wealth of info.

It's basically just 4 bolts... two small (8mm) bolts attached to a copper pipe that is attached to the intake [note there is a small silver spacer gasket between the pipes plate and the EGR valve and then two long bolts in the base that I believe are a size (32?) star head[I have replaced those with 1/2 inch nut heads because I don't want to deal with the headache of a stripped star bolt again.]

Hope this helps ya out gage :D
