My buddy is coming over in a few minutes.
Gonna take the grille off and brainstorm.
I would love to improve my KK just a tad more.

Might be a little difficult since I have already re-installed it. I'll see what I can do.

Okay. I really would like to do this mod without using a drill, but I'll use it if I have to.
I really want to get this done. Having a cold air intake, plus this, should equal good improvement.

Get rid of the CAI and reinstall the stock air box with the grill opened up would be WAY better

I like the noise of the CAI over stock.

I also did the dremel mod initially but it looked doo doo. Now it looks factory. In fact i looked at the 2014 cherokee launch vids today and it appears they copied me with the honeycomb grille pattern :-) so far im really happy.

How did you cut it and keep it so you didn't lose any of the spots that hold the grille on?

Thats easy! Just cut from the front of the grille, the vertical bars will still be attached to the rest.

So drill through the front of the grille between the vertical plastic bars?
Does it have to be drilled clean or does it kinda of just pop out in a big piece?

I took the grille off and separated the chrome bits from the black plastic. I then cut the black plastic to accommodate the new mesh and drilled holes to use cable ties to hold it in place. In the centre I drilled through and used dowel rods so that I could wrap the cable ties around them through the mesh.
