there are a few posts on here and jeep forum about egr valves as well. if you're looking to remove it or find out what it would take to do so they are a wealth of info.

It's basically just 4 bolts... two small (8mm) bolts attached to a copper pipe that is attached to the intake [note there is a small silver spacer gasket between the pipes plate and the EGR valve and then two long bolts in the base that I believe are a size (32?) star head[I have replaced those with 1/2 inch nut heads because I don't want to deal with the headache of a stripped star bolt again.]

Hope this helps ya out gage :D

:BINGO: Thank you so much for this and the picture! Gonna see if I can remove it when I get home from work today. I would imagine mine to be dirty. It's my understanding that the EGR has a decent role in our mpgs. I'll let ya know if I get mine off and take pictures, too.

let that engine get cold otherwise you're going to shear off bolt heads xD
as far as location. it's in a pain of a spot. its on the drivers side of the throttle body and intake tube. you need to removle the copper tube before you can remove the other two bolts.

Be warned it's a pain in the stupid lol

Yup. I don't remember what size it was but i think it was a 32. Like I said I changed them out as soon as I could. auto zone sells them.

Okay. Gonna have some coffee then see if I have the right tool.
I hope it solved your problem.
Have you ever changed your PCV before?

Did what I could without taking the torx screws out.
Sprayed throttle body cleaner on some dirty looking things inside and got a lot of black stuff on a blue paper towel to show for.
Unless it's a placebo effect, it drove really nice on my test drive.

As a side note to all of this. I've fixed all the problems the jeep had. the red "Brake" light that was coming on wasn't the emergency brake at all. nor was it tail lights going out.... My break fluid was low... I'm an idiot :banghead: filled her up and now I'm good as gold.

I don't remember you saying anything about the brake light.
Glad that's fixed now. When I first got my Lib it needed a little, too.

Yup, running like a champ. It's due for an oil change so that needs to happen pretty soon but otherwise things are good in my world.

I REALLY need to get new tires and I'm chomping at the bit to lift it! Why can't my wallet let me do what I want to! lol

Hey guys. I too am having similar problems and want to change/clean both my pcv valve and EGR valve....does anyone have a photo showing where they are located? I can't find this anywhere, was hoping you could help?

Ive done the plugs and cleaned the TB yesterday, it helped but id like to keep going but not sure where to go.

Both EGR valve and PCV are located on the drivers side, against (very close) to the firewall. The EGR valve is close to the outboard side of the engine compartment and the PVC is inboard of that on the intake. Sorry no pics from me, but there is a picture of the EGR on the first page of this post. PCV valve is super easy, haven't gotten to the EGR valve yet, but also very easy looking.
