I know I want GDE's Full Torque Eco Tune, but I still have the OEM TC. My question is: Should I just get the tune, and replace the TC when it eventually destroys it? Will the TC give me some warning that it's going to fail, or will it crap out all of the sudden? I won't be towing anything for at least a year, and will replace the TC before I do so. I just don't have the cash for it right now.

Mike

You'll notice the "shudder" as it starts to fail. Once it starts it goes quick... but you should get the tune now and just pay attention during the TC lockup and take it easy on the accelerator pedal.

I would just run it tell its dies. You can also learn how to drive around the shutter. Just have to learn when to down shift your self. Shutter on mine is always around 1600-1800rpms= torque peak. If i'm on the free way at like 60(only time I get shutter) and roll into the throttle I get shutter. So I just take it out of over drive.

Now if I can just find some time to install my euro converter

During our testing prior to releasing the tunes, we pulled 5000 trailers up the mountain grades with a stock torque converter. The higher torque tunes had lots of shudder, but the TC will not fail immediately. We drove with shudder (daily) for about a year before mopar released the euro spec torque converter. Stock TC had a 300 ftlb capacity lockup clutch, the euro TC has a 400 ftlb capacity lockup clutch. That is the only difference...i.e. the stall speed is the same.

You will be fine running the full torque eco tune for some time and you can always drive around shudder for some time while saving for an aftermarket unit. GDE

I been running the full torque for over a year. I get shudder every once and a while pulling my travel trailer. I get were I see a big hill coming and turn the over drive off. Top the hill turn it back on. I can feel in the go pedel easy off a little. Makes a world of difference in the power and overall fuel economy. Over all worth every penny.
