Hi Guys.

Can someone help please...

If have search the forums and all the different discussions regarding the F37 flash, but could not find the answer I am looking for.

What is the bad thing about the F37 flash?, I know about the changing in the shift points. But why is everyone so against it? What am I missing.

The small change in the shift points could't make such a big difference in economy and power loss....

Is the flash reversible?

Any advice or info will be greatly appreciated.

NS: I have the (2005 - 127 000 km on clock) export model (Euro spec) and it was recalled in 2009 for a upgraded TC and the F37. I have the vehicle for about 20 000km's now from the beginning of this year. Very happy with it....

Short version for 05/06 CRD automatic transmission:
1. original engine power curve combined with transmission shift points destroyed original torque converters with plastic parts and some of the replacements for those torque convertors
2. DCJ solution for weak torque converters was F-37 to a) detune the engine to reduce power, b) raise tranny rpm shift points to reduce torque converter load caused by lower rpms at original lower shift points, and c) do a drive test to see if the torque converter needed replacement and replace if need be. The replacement TCs were NOT the 07 "Euro" TCs rather they were the 05/06 TCs withou the plastic part.
So the outcome of an F-37 was less power and a bit of an mpg hit, mostly in town, due to higher shift points. NOTE if a few cases the dealer "forgot" to do the tranny shift point part of the F-37.

Can the F-37 be "reversed"? Not by a dealer but GDE (http://www.greendieselengineering.com/g ... ethod=home) can provide a) an engine tune that restores the engine power and does a lot of other good things and b) a tranny tune that does a bit better than restoring the pre F-37 shift points. How available the GDE products are at your location I do not know.

Papaindigo, thank you very much for your informative answer.

There is a guy in Cape Town who is an agent for GDE. Definitely the way to go for me....

Regards.
