2005 liberty 3.7 select trac. I have been attempting to trouble shoot a 4 wheel drive issue latety. I am getting a popping/clicking sound when making sharp right or left turns in part time 4 wheel drive. I starting looking into possible issues and read about the rear cv issue on the front driveshaft. Well sure enough mine was shot so I had it replaced, but the popping sound is still there although it doesn't seem quite as bad. It gets worse the sharper I cut the wheel with full turn being quite bad. Sounds like a bad cv joint maybe?

A few different types of terrain, dirt roads and grassy roads.

Does anyone else hear any noise when making turn on dirt roads?

Yeah I could use the full time setting and I usually do when just on a dirt road, but some spots are a mix of hard packed dirt with grassy sections and a few mud holes mixed in. I guess I just want to know if something is starting to go like a cv joint so it doesn't fail when out on the trail and leave me stranded.

If it's not as slippery as "an eel in a barrel of snot", then part time will bind.

Yeah I know the binding feeling and realize that is normal, it's the clicking and popping that has me worried!

Sounds like binding due to turning the wheels on a surface it's not needed. When you turn you got your tires turning at different speeds causing the popping ect. Which is why it gets worse the sharper you turn the wheels.

Had it into the shop and it turns out my passenger side cv and intermediate shaft may be gone, haven't torn it apart yet though, but that's likely causing my noise.

Turns out the intermediate shaft and passenger side axle were bad, replaced them and she works fine now.
