I have to replace my intermediate shaft and cv both left and right.
I found a cheap offer here in Europe, from EMPI.

Anyone has experience with this brand ? Specially versus Crown?

Thanks !

a long time ago EMPI used to make good VW stuff.... They may still..... but I haven't try to buy any in a long time.

no idea about their Jeep stuff.

in general I've had better quality from European suppliers - than Chinese suppliers.

I thought Empi was European, didn't know they moved production to Mexico.
I know they did VW parts.

Crown is Chinese. (maybe not)

Well - after I said that - Google doesn't agree with me - I know IDparts had some Crown waterpumps and they had problems - based on the comments I thought they were Chinese - it could be that the parts are manufactured there based on a US design. It is a US based web site.

For what it's worth that appears to be a 2010 document showing 2011 products and I wouldn't count on the location of headquarters to have much to do with where products are built for whatever that's worth. The 2013 catalog can be found by doing a Google search on "empi 2013 cv joint catalog" and going to the PDF version which should be the 3rd "hit".

Online reviews seem to fall into a) really good or b) really bad with at least a few of the bad related to bolts holding things together that were installed without Locktite.

Don't know what's available in your area but some outfits (http://www.driveshaftparts.com/cv-joint ... p/liberty/) do sell rebuild kits that some forum members have used.

the 2011 document i posted is mentionning a production site in MX, dont know if its still the case.
And also found quite a few comments on the EMPI saying that nutts have a tendency not hold in place.
I have the feeling that I will regret to have found "cheap" intermediate shaft...

The fact is here, the parts are darn expensive and very few mechanic know or want to rebuild. They just plugg in the OBD and read the code.
This said, I am sure the mechanic I have found, knows and can rebuild anything.

i received the EMPI int. shafts.
they are made in China...
..i will replace all the parts on the transmission (rings, seals,,,,) and will try to keep the stock shafts on.
Absolutely zero trust in shafts made by chinese!

Crown has a pretty bad reputation as well and much of their stuff seems to be made in eastern europe.
