Voted Duratracs for ya
but I'd look at different wheels ( backspacing and width)
8 inches is too wide really and with the backspacing on either one of those wheels its going to sit the tire / wheel combo out enough to cause issues with rubbing when driving and flexing
7 inch wide and 4 inch backspacing is great, 8 inch wide and that backspacing =no IMO
8 inches is wider wheel than we can use really on any of the tire sizes we have available

I remember having this discussion with you, and I'm happy that I went with a 16x7 instead x8. A little more peace of mind when airing down.

As for the tires, I wish I went Dura Tracs. I love my GY AT's, but I wish I had gone with more aggressive tread. Been hitting trails/wilderness more than I planned, so I guess that's a good mistake to have made

Why can't we use 16x8's? Says the recommended rims size in width is 7.0-8.0 so I'm confused

How many times.....................................................
7 inch works better on a 245-75-16 tire OR any tire we can run, if you air down with any tire we can run on a 8 inch there is more of a chance of it coming off the rim. Also as posted before 8 inch ( with that backspacing ) will sit the tire and wheel out too far and cause rubbing issues when turning and off road.
lotta years owning 4 wheel drives/etc
and several years selling tires and wheels
unless you want that tuner look , go for 7's

I love my duratracs and have gotten complements with them, but this Texas rock is starting to tear them up. I'm starting to loose some chunks of my tread. I guess they are a year and a half old though. I'm hoping to hold on to these as long as they're safe. Then I'm going to try the wrangler kevlar MTRs.

I've always rotated front to back, but my last set of tires got pretty loud on me.
Do you recommend a criss cross pattern? (4 tire)

I heard and learned not to do criscross patern because of the directional wear to the tires will be reversed and wear faster, but I could be wrong
Everytime I have ever takin in a vehicle to have the tires rotated (my tire guy does it for free for me) they have always just gone front to back never criscross

[quote="Atthehelm"]I'm at the tire shop right now waiting on Duratracs to be installed.[quote]

Initial impression on my 3 mile drive home in the snow. They're awesome. Silent on the plowed (just wet) highway at 55. I did some quick lane changes and there is some lateral slop, but the lugs are about 10 times deeper than the tires I just removed so I guess thats to be expected. Slamming on the brakes in the snow covered parking lots/neighborhood roads the stopping distance was very impressive.
So far real happy with my purchase, got an awesome deal on them too.

I voted Duratracs for you. Never ran the others so I can't really say.

The " lateral slop" is pretty normal for any new tire, it'll go away in a few miles

Ever since I started running radials ( yes I'm old enough to remember when we only had bias ply) but rears go straight up, fronts criss-cross to the back if doing a 4 tire rotation. Have never ever had an issue . Also did thousands of them the same way in tire shops I managed

So i changed my lift kit from the 1.5" to Tommudd's Econo lift and I know Tom is probably going to get irritated with me  but can the tire size change or is it still recommended to stay with the 245/75R16 on a 16x7 or can I do a 16x8?

:-)r

I'm running these on 245 75 16 duratracs. Love everything about this setup.

8 inch wide wheel pulls the beads apart quite a bit on a 245-75-16 or any tire we can run actually on a KJ/KK . I'd stay with 7 inch wide wheels, much better overall.

whats the difference in the 245/75R16 duratrac Load C & Load E and which is better? because I ordered my rims and tires today at american tire today and I just realized on the receipt that it says E where it should say C but I pais the cheaper price of the Load C should I call them back and tell them I want the Load C or is Load E better?

Better? Depends, on what you need in a tire. E's have more cords, greater load capacity. But a stiffer tire, less flex. It's a better tire for towing, and for those that like the feel of a stiff tire. Heavier than C's. Cost's more than C's
C's have fewer cords than E's more flex. It's not for towing, and for those that like to have tire flex.Lighter weight then E's. Cost's less than E's more economical to purchase.
