Hi guys,
Thanks for your replies, I parked this over the Xmas so back to it again.
Using the key I got 4 fault codes 1130 Fuel rail low pressure, 0190 Fuel rail press sensor, 1685 wrong key, 0620 generator. The explanations are the best I could get on the web.
Water level has not changed in 12 months since I replaced thermostat and no contamination on filler cap so not water.
Next I brought the Jeep to local garage and from his scan said fuel rail pressure was only 5% down. He checked the injectors on the bench and all working perfectly.
Done a wet and dry compression test and cyl 1 and 4 perfect but cyl 2 and 3 30% below cyl 1 and 4.
From his experience he would expect cyl 1 and 4 to give problems not 2 and 3.
His theory is that incomplete combustion was letting diesel past the rings on cyl 2 and 3.
In 50 (local running) miles since oil change oil level has gone from low mark to above high mark on dipstick almost 1l extra!
Any ideas if this adds up why these 2 cylinders. I am using K&N air filter for approx. 70k.
Am I looking at replacing the rings or a complete rebore?
Thanks
Sean
I replied to this post of yours on the other forum

....there I gave you the links to the manuals as to how to change the cylinder liners etc. so at least there is no rebore required!
