whoa, 3mpg, thats pretty good... Is this with the EVIC thingy I assume?

I reset the evic while crusing down the turnpike at 65 and was suprised to see it go as high as 31 mpg before settleing down to 28 mpg aveage for 14 miles (7 miles each direction). Today I put it into full time for wet roads today I kept spining the rear tires and seeing the esp light flash on the dash. My local driving was 17.5 and usally only got 300 to the tank. Next tank I hope to see some improvment.

Just a thought, does your wife CRD have ESP and traction control? If not I think that would make a big differents.

It is an '05 model and they didn't have ESP as far as I know, just ABS. That would be the difference, Hemi V8 Magnum's with ESP on will not spin tires either.

Reggie, it's possible that the Texas tx diesel requirement forced refiners to use higher No 1 diesel blends, reducing mileage. Any my CRD drops 3 - 4 mpg depending on how cold it gets. Once it warms up, as we had a freak 75 degree week a while back, the mpg shoots up dramatically. I never noticed this cold weather effect to this extent on my gas V6 Liberty.

I sure as heck noticed it on my '04 Dakota. 4.7 V8, SULEV CA emissions setup, apparently all the '04 Dakota V8's were set up that way. It was even more sensitive than the CRD to cold weather and different brands of fuel. 18 plus during the summer and with Chevron gas, 14 if I used a different brand and/or the weather turned cold. That's actually a larger percentage change than what the CRD sees. And you had four O2 sensors to contend with, if one of those went bad, forget it.

Same with us, With our V6 liberty we hardly noticed any difference when it was cold, MAYBE 1mpg. we got a consistance 20-21mpg. We're getting 21mpg right now in the liberty CRD in the cold, hoping things improve and regular gas is way cheaper than diesel is now. I always wondered why I would see standard gas drop a few cents and then I would see diesel jump up a few cents? That makes no sense to me... Its almost like the government or whoever knows the world relies on diesel fuel for big rigs to deliver us pretty much everything. Where as if gas prices got too high people would just drive less.

But they offered the Trac-Loc Limited Slip rear-end in '05 didn't they? I DON'T have Trac-Loc and mine will spin but I assume it's only spinning one of them. W/ the Trac-Loc you'd have to spin both.

I've looked on their website and it doesn't mention #1 diesel. Anyways I think it just came online at the pump in February and I've gotten poor mileage since I bought the beast in September. I will say that most of my mileage is around town, but very little stop & go. I need to take it on a highway trip to see what the MPG is on the highway. It might be just from going around town. I also just had a glow plug replaced and I hope that is not the first sign of an EGR going out. I need to get a Provent on this thing soon also.

Here's the web site for TxLED for any interested parties:

We did a road trip to go shopping over in KY today, over and back the average mpg for the trip was 30 mpg. Half the trip running 70 mph and half the trip 60 mph, half was interstate and the other half two lane rolling hills country road with 3 or 4 heavy throttle passes. Did get a chance to see how tranny works at 58 mph in rolling hills, it worked perfect.

Was this with the DR Performance module? 30mpg is pretty good, we just got 24mpg on our last tank :( Still waiting for the non winter diesel...

The only thing not bone stock is the nitgeron filled tires filled running at 40 psi and the ride is smoother then with 36 psi of dirty air.

Oh, you mean you're running pure nitrogen, instead of the regular 80% nitrogen? :D

I know, I'm being a nit picking bubblehead again.

Dive!!! Dive!!! Dive!!!

Oh no, someone forgot to close the port holes!!!

It's the other 20% that's the problem, 100% nitrogen has lots of advantages. Do a Google. hey it was only $3.50 a tire. Next I have to find a place that does sipping.

I got a PM from tomo, but haven't seen any of his postings that I remember. I sent him a PM while back to see if he got a CRD, but as yet haven't heard back from him.

The CCV development for the CRD is coming right along and will something simiular to the CCV I came up with for the VW TDI's. As with the TDI stuff I was just the idea guy and the guys doing the actual drawings and mfg make the $$$ not me. For me it the same it was with the VW's, It was just trying to get something worth while for all here on the forum at the best price and quality.

I just plugged the Predator in on my 2005 CRD. Holy crap there's a HUGE difference in power!!! DAYAM!!

I can only attest to the power increase so far. I noticed a little less boost lag, but it's still present.

I'd be interested in seeing what a couple pounds more of boost along with this mod would do. :)

Anyone try the K&N drop-in filter yet?

I gains you no increase in HP or TQ and lets tons of dirt into the turbo and on into the engine.

Check out this link. ISO Test of airfilters in turbodiesel
