Most common things.

1. Air in the fuel system. (filter, Lines or filter housing)
2. Dirty filter.
3. Battery. There are good battery's and good correct battery's. The correct good battery is one with at least 800 COLD CRANKING AMPS. Diesels need lots of CCA!
4. Bad glow plugs.
5. Dirty air filter.

I found out that the fuel pressure should be really close to the 'setairport point' pressure. I went and checkex mine and on a cold engine the set point was about 8500 psi and on a warm engine it was about 6500 psi. When i shut it off, the pressure dropped to about 850 then crept down from there.
