Howdy. Long time reader, first time poster.

I have a 2005 KJ CRD Limited with 83,000 miles. Lately I've been getting about 15mpg around town (used to be 20ish). I've usually had a drop off in the winter, but never like this. Also, it seems to be in base boost mode. Normally this thing will do wheelies off the line, but now it is very sluggish. No CEL or other indications of anything amiss. Thoughts?

Have you checked your boost hoses? (From the turbo to the intercooler, and from the intercooler to the intake)
Cleaned your MAP Sensor?

Can you post what mods you have done to your jeep (if any), it can help rule out some options.

Also you probably need to immediately check your turbo intake hose. It is the hose that runs from the back of your air filter box down to the front of your turbo. Once you take the clamp off of the front of your turbo, specifically check the bottom of the hose for cuts and tears.

Also check your intercooler hoses, take them all the way off of both sides, remove the wrapping and check the full length and circumference on both of them for any holes or cracks.

Losing boost pressure will cause the problems you are experiencing, and the hoses are known failure points.

Let us know, thanks!

Thanks! The boost hoses were fine at last check 5 months ago, but will check again when it's not so cold outside. Currently 0 degrees F right now. I will post back with my findings...

Dwightdan,

Tell us a few things about your Jeep?

1. Any Mods? Tune? ORM? EGR operating?
2. Timing belt been changed yet?
3. Last time the Fuel filter's been changed?
4. Last time the Air Filter's been Changed?

These will help us understand you Jeep. If you still have an active EGR? That may say a lot.

Best regards
KJJET

Full stock, no mods. Timing belt hasn't been changed, but only at 83k miles. Fuel filter was changed a year ago Nov 11, but only 10k miles ago. Will do at next oiled change. sake with air filter. Active EGR, though GDE is on my short bucket list.

O... Sorry but the last thing you need to worry about is Fuel mileage. That could be caused by lots of things.

1st A build up of EGR crap in your intake, due to EGR use.
2nd Rocker failure, due to EGR use.

FYI.. You need to change that timing belt. Its to old and brittle, may break anytime.

Sorry to say, but your driving a time bomb!

Best regards
