So I am an hour away from finishing the head gasket replacement, and the mailman did not bring the injector seal kit! :banghead:

I am only 1 state away, so I do not opt for expedited shipping, and the holidays have not helped, head gasket kit was delayed because of Santa, now the injector seals are delayed because of father time.

Went through the same thing with the water pump.

Any ways, these should be part of the Cylinder Head Install Kit (Liberty CRD), and a thermostat gasket would not be a bad idea as well. If we are pulling the head, we are pulling the injectors.

And BTW, if you have not been to their site lately you would be surprised at all the additional OE parts they are selling for out Jeeps. :D

I agree, I actually just finished on their site rounding up all their parts

One thing I suggest, start including the option of arp studs with the head gasket install kit. Right now there is no option on the sight to just purchase gaskets without oem head bolts

Unfortunately, the OEM head gasket CANNOT be purchased without also getting the useless head bolts.

This is not a failure of IDparts, this is their suppliers (and Chrysler) refusing to separate the items. If an aftermarket gasket supplier can be found, then I'm sure they would be ecstatic to sell them with the ARP studs.

As for the studs themselves - Since they are the same kit for the VW TDI 99-03 and quite possibly the 04-06 PD and maybe even further... I'm sure IDparts could be persuaded to sell the studs for a decent price.

Not sure if he is still selling them separately but I bought just a head gasket from GDE.

It did not dawn on me, but I should have bought my parts from GDE as well, he would have known exactly what I needed. Maybe a sticky that GDE sells parts would be a good thing?

If it were not a kit at ID, I could have selected the parts instead of assuming it was all I needed.

Keith from GDE may want to weigh in but my impression is GDE does not "regularly" have parts although when they do they have good prices. They do not appear to list any parts on their web site other than the turbo and tuning tool

Wow, sorry for being so late to respond to this, things have been crazy and I haven't been on here for a few weeks. Thank you to Bob for sending me a link.

Based on these recommendations I have added the injector copper washers and o-rings to the cylinder head install kit. I usually try to make kits that don't overlap so customers don't get duplicates of parts, but I'm not sure what I was thinking in this case not including these in the head install kit. Fixed now.

I'm not sure how Keith @ GDE gets these without bolts (probably uses the magic he uses to make our Jeeps run so much better and get much better MPGs at the same time). I've been hounding VM and they won't do it!

Since this thread says "KITS" - what else do you think is incomplete?

One more gasket for the HG kit should be the tstat gasket.

The water pump should come with the triangle gasket.

In the timing belt kits, there is a water pump gasket that I haven't found a use for yet - It might be that "triangle" gasket you are referring to. Round hole in the center, and (IIRC) 3 bolt ears around the exterior?

When I replace the water pump by only pulling the front half of the housing, there isn't any place for that gasket to be. I suspect it is for the back of the housing, but that is only a guess.

Corey, if you are building kits that could possibly overlap (and obviously nobody wants duplicate parts) it might be helpful to list on the website somewhere which kits might be needed for which jobs - So someone buying a valve cover removal kit knows they will need the timing belt kit, (at least as a suggested purchase) and then the Valve Cover kit might only be the crush washers, o-rings, and the valve cover gasket. The optional add-on would be the rocker set since they are obviously going in there for a reason. The valve cover kit and timing kits could be the suggested purchases for someone looking at the rocker sets too.

And maybe (if you really want to be nice) one of those spring clips and the plastic T for the return line? I haven't broken any of them recently, but on my own CRD, the bottom of one of those return tees snapped off in the top of the injector. Just below its own little o-ring, the plastic must have been very dried out. That was moderately annoying at the time.

A head-removal kit could further build on the valve cover kit and timing kit, by adding gaskets for the thermostat, exhaust manifold, turbo oil return, and turbo oil crush washers. Of course the head gasket would be needed... Maybe they can be sourced separated from the bolts through The VM Specialist? Somebody must be the one manufacturing these.

If each kit built on the one before, then the purchasing / packing might get a bit easier on your team too - Job X is being done, so customer orders Kit A, kit B, kit C... And a side of fried wonton. :SOMBRERO: :ROTFL:

Thanks for doing what you do, and rocking it. I know Brian was pretty happy once we got everything resolved and running again. It was a little hairy with our two schedules, but you saved the day again.

I agree, recommended add ons would be just as effective as a complete kit. BTW, I just ordered a tstat and it came with the gasket, of course I already have 2 of these gaskets for spares, but for a $1 and change no complaints.
