Correct diesel filter housing or not?

On a 2003 2.8 CRD, is this an OEM jeep filter housing?

It doesn't have a manual lift pump, and the filter/housing has a glass bottom with a drain plug & 2 loom plugs attached. All the pictures I can find seem to be US '05 on housings so unsure if this is a euro spec housing or something the PO has had fitted.

While I'm not familiar with the exports, just looking at it I can tell you that undoubtedly that it is an aftermarket.

The housing is the stock Racor unit, the filter is aftermarket. The manual primer is the white knob on top, unscrew it and it will lift up and push down to bring fuel from the tank.

Looks like a Racor 225. KEEP IT as it is the OEM filter used on CRDs before they made them available in the USA. It is a great filter head and what I use.

Yes that is the Racor the early Export CRDs use.....very good product.

You can download the 2003 KJ Service Manuals here...includes circuit diagrams but first download the "2.5_2.8 Export diesel" supplement.....tells you everything about the early fixed-vane turbo Export CRD engines.....a lot of differences to the 2005/6 CRDs that the USA have.

Think I am getting air leaks into the housing (having some difficult starting & cutouts). Can someone with the same housing check the picture of mine, it looks like the plastic scrrw has been covered in expoxy. Is that by the p.o. or by design, wondering if someone has already tried to seal a leak

The white plug with the slot in, it that the bleed plug?
Looks like mine has been butched about & then covered with epoxy, think I will have to get a new housing

Had a couple of none starting issues which were cured with re priming the filter. Have a new head on its way as I think the current one is leaking air.

Yep looks like the previous owner butchered that plastic bit and sealed it with epoxy alright. That should simply screw out and then you pump with it extended.

Good thing you are getting a new housing!
