Interesting topic. Makes me start thinking there are no two CRD's alike.

I am fairly certain that I have a 6.5%>7% odometer error as tested against state highway miles posts and it reads fast so I am actually going slower than the speedometer reads. Yet when my speedometer is reading 60 MPH the tach is pretty close to 1900 and theoretically I am really only going about 56 MPH.

Another interesting thing is all of the talk about what speed you need to be going before it drops into high OD. Mine has no problem operating a 50 or 55 MPH in 5th. At 55 I am turning about 1750 RPM and at 50 about 1625. This is without the odometer error adjustment.

Cabbage patch Jeeps, interesting concept. Must be why the silver ones are faster?!?
Think mine's off by @ 2% the other way (to the slow side). Was starting to think this speedo was calibrated for the 235/70R16 tire size.

When I take the trip to MI I will have the ScanGage plugged in and will be able to give an exact rpm at what ever speed the GPS shows.

Thinking about going there myself if I can keep mine out of the shop long enough. That's about 3 hours away for me. Is this a one day event?

I have a GPS and the speedo is off by 2mph up to 25 and 3mph at speeds above that. The speed difference is exactly 3mph and the error doesn't get worse at higher speeds as would happen with larger tires installed.

I need one of those scan tools that can read real time. I would like to know if the torque converter is locked of if it is in a lower gear. Riding around with the TC unlocked generates a lot of heat and wastes a lot of energy when it doesn't need to.

I seem to remember that mine was 3 mph off, but will make note to check and see if the error is a percentage or just a straight 3 MPH error.

At 60mph on the speedo my GPS reads 61, and mile markers are off by about the same %.

OK, I continue to learn!

A couple of nights ago I had to get into the throttle a little on a rural highway and got the CRD up to about 3200 RPM and 70 MPH. I then drifted back to a little under 60 MPH pulling a long hill. I glanced down at my tach and there is sits comfortably at 1650 RPM when it would normally be up around 1900. I have tested it a few times since and find the same thing, punch it up to nearly 70 then get it back down to the under 60 mark and 1650 RPMs or less. Gently nudge it up to 60 and it runs at 1900. It does not make sense to me that one would need to drive it this way to get peak efficiency.

Well over 2000 miles now, and mine will not make its final torque lockup till 60 mph, before and after the
shift kit, same shift point, same shift every time no matter what the load. I can drive 55,56,57,58,59 and
at 60 bingo, makes the final shift, every time like clockwork. 65 dead on is 1900 rpm dead on.
Getting 26-27 at 60-65 in rolling hills consistantly. Pretty pleased with it so far, but its early, will
see at the 200,000 mark like my VW TDI was.

What model is your Shift kit? Wouldn't you say you have this very good shift pattern because of it? If so I'm gonna buy one today!!!

Mine is a left over new 2005, with only the last flash on it, it shifted this way before the
TransGo kit. I was afraid it would change with the kit, but it did not.

with a stock '05 on 225/75/16

60mph 1750rpm
70mph 2050rpm
95mph 2800rpm (closed & deserted road, just for testing purpose, wasn't me, will deny everything).

The speedo is off exactly +1mph with my GPS, whatever the speed (ie at 70 the GPS says 69)... very good
