So I was curious if anyone knew of a manufacturer who makes a mount for a 5th wheel that doesn't mount via trailer hitch. My wheels and tires are too big to fit in the stock spare slot under the trunk and I'm on the fence about a roof rack. Is there a swing gate spare option available?

From the title I thought you meant for a trailer. But the only one that I can think of uses the hitch. But not the receiver tube. Someone here has it . I believe it's from De tour.

I believe Ted had a rear mounted tire? Yup here is a link viewtopic.php?f=88&t=45409&start=280

Atthehelm is a pretty smart guy.. I wonder if he could work something up with one of his bumpers.

Are you still running the 245/70 R16's? if so they should fit under the back. I dont know of anyone having a problem fitting their 245/75's.

Thanks for all the replies guys! I actually am still running the same tire size. I guess I just assumed they wouldn't fit because I sized up a little bit. I might have to try a test fit when some of this snow melts and scoop up another Soft 8. I've been eying a roof rack for a while, so I considered tossing the spare up top but...saving the cash and buying something a little more trail friendly for the weekends sounds like a good plan too... :JEEPIN:

I know 245/75-16s fit under there. I've seen a few 265/75-16s fit as well, only thing is they might have to be aired down.
