I was curious to know if anyone has used these on Al's upper arms.

The reason I ask is I managed to pick up a set of arms and have yet to install a bump extension in the front of the KJ. I know there are other options from Teraflex and Daystar but these bumps look fairly easy to fab up with my current skills.
The bumps that I am referencing are these:


I would plan on using 1/4 inch stock that I have lying around the garage so other than the time to whip them together and wire/electrodes they would be essentially free which works wonders with the wife.

Any help is greatly appreciated especially if there is a good reason to avoid this type of design and go with Teraflex I am all ears.

What arms did you get?
Also you know that everytime you want to grease the ball joints you have to remove that type of bumpstop. I guess its a cheap way of doing it, but I'd much rather just have the Teraflex

I'm not exactly sure what gen model they are (most likely 4.5 though).
To address the problem of the zerk on the ball joint I thought of drilling a hole in the top of the bump so I can get my grease nozzle in from the top. It may not be as easy as not having anything there but low cost is definitely a bonus.

I'm curious about the zerks on the arms themselves, not the one on the ball joint.

The arms I have do not have greasable bushings. The pic I posted came from RRO.

Quick update: Ive been working on cleaning up and painting the arms, the one to the left is what they looked like when I got them.


They definitely do not seem to be 4.5 arms since my friend just installed some and they have more meat on the wheel side of the ball joint than these do.

The RRO bumpstops do work on Al's A Arms. (Just got them in today). You do need longer bolts though. Notice the cutout for the grease zerk.

Those look like a earlier production set of 4.5s

Thanks for the input guys. I'll get to work finishing up the recondition and get to burning in some bump extensions.

Since you're making your own bump stop, why not make it tall enough with enough room to use a 90 degree zerk fitting?

I replaced the zerks on my JBA arms with 45 degree fittings just to make getting to them ( with the grease gun ) a bit easier.
