I will write something up over the weekend, but you can basically see what I did here.

Holy $#!+ Al, did you drop the whole subframe? Doesn't that mean you had to take out the engine and tranny?

Thats the IFS cradle, not the subframe.

Psst, I think Al has the Jeepin Bug....Just Empty Every Pocket...

Seroiusly though that rig looks like the way it should have coming from the DC factory. Luv the side by side with the wannabee 2005. Keep up the good work Al, maybe DC will learn from you. I know we all are learning a lot (at least I am).

Actually, I did drop the front, the cradle as shown is an extra one I picked up after a long hard search. When you drop the cradle/subframe the entire motor drops with it. I made spacers for the motor mounts. two bolts and the motor is unbolted. It would have been easy to put the spacers in.

Than I started to think a little (means I went inside and sat on the throne for a long time) The KJ was a little "free" at around 3.5 inches, what would be like at 5.5 inches. So to keep the CG low, I decide to leave the engine in the OEM mounts and drop the tranny and transfer case. This menat a spacer for those mounts. After playing with angles and such, I decided that an 1.5 inch spacer would work just fine, I adjusted the skid plates to match, the rest is history.

ok, so it was essentially a body lift, now i get how you did it, basically the motor and trans moved up about half as much as the body did...kinda cool. Nice job man....now you need to pick up a spare Libby and get an SFA under it. How cool would that be? A Jeepin' By Al SFA kit...it'd be nice not to have to drive out to All J's to have my SFA done (when i finally dig up $10K)

Nope, no new pictures yet. I don't like how the front end came out with the longer drop a-arms, way too much bump steer, so I am trying to beg a set of longer steering knuckles from superlift, I called "hellfire" once and left a message. I think I will bug him again. If that doesn't work, I will be relocating the a-arms downward, but unlike the 7-up kit I will not be cutting the knuckle, I think we can make the a-arms smaller in width, and just a little shorter, and mount them either on the spacer steel of the lift, are somewhere between the spacer and the OEM mounting points.

I am working with my welder/fabber for a solution that will be completely bolt on...which means if you have a jack and some wrenches, you can install a lift kit (?) or at least copy it buying just some of the pieces we fab up for sale, such as the spacer and a-arms.

I will keep everyone informed.

Al

Are you still going to be able to make it this weekend to the Nor'easter? Would love to see the progress so far in person.
