Who has done the GreenDieselEngineering Turbo Upgrade and what do you think of it?

I did the ECO HOT Tune and have really enjoyed the improved performance.

Do I like it? Yes. No vacuum operated variable vanes to worry about as they are electric controlled but still need an occasional Italian tune-up to keep the soot off; lots more room on that side of the engine bay; little to no turbo lag; and more acceleration power than I imagined which would have been nice to have when I tried to gun it off the line at a red light just before the dump truck rear ended my original 05, sigh. Installation MUST be with an installed beefy torque converter; Euro or Suncoast. After geordi and I installed mine we took a quick test drive out of his place of residence onto the hwy where I stomped it and immediately had my first shudder experience on the original stock TC (felt like I really botched engaging the clutch on a manual transmission). Until I got my Suncoast, they did the install on-site although I later found my local DCJ dealer does Suncoast installs on lots of Dodge trucks, I drove with a very light foot and had no problems.

Did I need it? No. It and the Suncoast were a retirement present to myself. That said it's a good upgrade and I would highly recommend it, if GDE can get them relatively quickly, to anyone who has a dead or dieing turbo that needs replacing.

I just received mine today! Original turbo blew the seal, luckily for me I saw the smoke cloud and pulled over. It took 2.5 qts of oil to get it back to normal level. I had already bought the euro converter, transgo kit, arp studs, timing belt sundries, and a head gasket. Tearing into it today. I will report back when complete.

LOL! :-)r

Where should he put the video camera while driving? Under the hood?

What would you expect to see?
A regular picture would be just as exciting and probably have better lighting.

Here was my Drag Strip Time in San Antonio after the GDE HOT TUNE...definitely 0-60 under 10 seconds (0-64.8 in 10.390 seconds). With the turbo upgrade I would expect a 0-60 in the 8 second range and the 1/4 in the mid 15's...not bad for a 4450# vehicle.

:ROTFL: video not happening although if folks want I can do a still. Video won't show anything and sound might or might not pickup, over wind noise, the minor barely audible turbo whistle that only occurs during warm-up.

0-60 not happening; no place to legally do it and I've never been a fan of unnecessary vehicle stress. Ok decades ago I did run my rebuilt from scratch '65 Mustang pretty hard.

If you want that type of feedback see http://www.greendieselengineering.com/f ... st/78.page
