Hey guys, noob here, I tried searching the forum for answers but really don't have much time. I am looking a picking up a 2012 4wd Limited Jet. I'm sure these questions have been asked but looking to get some answers from the pro's here. What are the real life mpg's on these? Sounds like 16-17 is average with the lows being 14 and the highs being about 21, is this acccurate? Are there any common issues/problems I should look for or be concerned about? The Jeep has only 15k miles on it and looks like it was taken care of. This will be for my wife. I am very active on my truck forum, and hope to be on here if we pick it up. You guys seem to like to mod your KK/KJ's I have done extensive mods on my truck, but I doubt my wife would let me do too much to the Jeep. Thanks for your help.

The KK is a great vehicle and I'm very happy with mine. The only real issue to watch are the skysliders some have had problems.

As far as MPGs I get 16-17 but I have heavier wheels and I'm lifted. When I was stock I got 17-22 MPG The 22 being highway miles.

15k is a good find! The KK has copper plugs so just be sure to change every 30k or sooner.

I'd assume with the jet package it has the 20in wheels. It might ride a little harder than the 16in wheel.

Yes i does have the 20 rims, and luckily no slider on it, here is a link to the website. http://www.murphymotorsnexttonew.com/ It is featured on the front page and you can see more info if you click on the SUV page

My wifes main concern is how it drives, she used to have a Pathfinder and traded it for a CR-V, was not real impressed with the AWD this past winter and wants to get back into a 4wd. She knows it won't drive as smooth as the CR-V, but is hoping it won't be any rougher than the Pathfinder, not sure if there are any upgrades to make the suspension better. I am driving a 2010 Nissan Titan Crew cab that I have done the following too: Bilstein 5100 struts on the middle setting with a1.5" spacer and Rought Country UCA's up front, 5100 shocks and a 1.5" block in the back,275/70/18 Duratracs, Airaid CAI, Magnaflow Exhaust, Bullydog Tuner, Full interior LED swapout, 5000K Hids in the headlights and foglights, 20" double row LED lightbar, Bedlined Grill, Bumpers, and wheels, among some other things. Thanks for the info guys, I really appreciate it.

Nice Nissan.

As far as the KK goes. Stock I averaged about 16/17 mixed, with mostly highway. Most I ever saw was about 22 on the interstate. Least was about 12 in the winter with pure city driving. It rides like a truck, something she should be used to. Jets come with 20s, so obviously a stiffer ride. I don't really like low profiles, but that's personal taste. As for suspension upgrades, the biggest ones are lifts. Slight 2-2.5" lifts that give great rides. All depends on what you want and how much you want to pay.

As far as suspension, I was just wondering if swapping out the struts would be enough to improve the ride. I know with my truck, the OEM struts/shocks were not that great, just replacing them with the Bilsteins made a big difference on how the truck responded/rode

I think two things would help getting a smaller wheel like a 16 and getting a coil lift. I just had mine lifted and it feels a little more firm than stock but it handles and drives so much better.

Sometimes 16 inch stock wheels are listed on here in the for sale section, usually when somebody goes for Soft 8's or other custom wheels. I had good luck finding a matching 16 inch spare at a junkyard using http://www.car-part.com. For $70 I picked up the rim, center cap, and tire pressure sensor, all in perfect condition. I've seen sets of 4 or 5 rims for sale on there, and they might not be too far from where you live.

I picked up a Jet new 2 years ago with no Sky Slider. Only issue I’m having is my airbag light is coming on (meaning passenger airbag is off), but that might be a recall/TSB? Not sure.

Ride difference is definitely noticeable with the 20s. I picked up 16s with some nice AT tires and the ride quality and mileage both improved (1 mpg difference).

Real life MPG is 20 highway (at 70mph), 22mpg at 60, and 15mpg city is realistic.

I've never gotten 15MPG even with the fact I'm a lead foot.

I've never gotten better than 16 and that was new, before I changed anything. I get about 13 now.

Depends on what you call “city” I guess. I live in a small town, couple of stop lights, one roundabout. I don’t necessarily have a lead foot, but I do get on it a little when I’m in a hurry. I do a fair bit of stop-and-go in 35mph zones, so that probably doesn’t help.

I’ve been in bigger cities with traditional city traffic and gotten sub 12. So, 15 is good by me :goink:

I get about 10-11 around town in my Titan and about 15 on the highway using winter blend, summer I can bump it up to about 13 and 17, 18 if I have a tailwind. But that's what happens when you lift a #6000 pound truck and change the aerodynamics on it, along with adding heavier tires, and some go fast parts that make it hard to keep off the skinny pedal.

Thanks for all the responses guys, we are going to test drive it tomorrow and see how it goes,

Make sure you get it

As for what I consider city, my town is apparently the "town of stop signs". If you make it 2-3 blocks without one, you're doing good lol. I also live 30min away from NYC. I've sat on the Cross Bronx for 2 hours. In those 2 hours I moved 10 feet. That's a regular there. Nothing like Long Island traffic lol. Over populated Island, with rush hour involving 1 of the biggest cities in the world(with very few ways to traverse it lol).

I bought my '12 Sport with around 5k on it in July. With mostly highway driving (hilly highway, at that) I was getting 19mpg on the stock tires. A drive to the Cape got me 21mpg. Since adding different tires and using winter blend gas, I'm getting anywhere from 14-15 with the same driving.
