I'm billy from the other side of planet , and i own an JEEP Liberty kj2.8 CRD 150 CV Automatic 545RFE Transmission. 200.000 Km in counter.
My problem is that it took 300 Km to consume the full fuel capacity, normally it should take 600 Km.
I've changed injectors for another reason without reporgramming ( is this without risks?)

There's an oil smells too from the exhaust pipe.

When i let the engine turning when the car is parked , a white smoke with strong fuel smells start to go out after 5 Minutes.
So, what's the solutions to my problem knowing that there's no DRBIII in my side of the planet.

Sorry for my bad english, i didn't find any solution in forum using other language, so i came her for the last chance.

I would first check for fuel leaks outside of the engine. The most likely location would be the return line from the injectors. Leaks in other locations would cause hard starting and you did not mention this as a problem.

Are the injectors new, rebuilt or used? If rebuilt or used, it could be a bad injector. They can be tested at a shop. Why did you change the injectors? Did you use new copper washers when you installed the new injectors? If the injector is not seated properly in a clean port with a new washer, then they can leak. This would give poor fuel economy. If this is the case, you would see evidence of leakage around the injector.

Thanks for your reply.

I used a new injectors with an new copper washers, and there's no leaks around the injectors,
I changed the injectors cause two of them was dead, it was caused by a bad fuel quality (mixed with water), so i changed all the four with new ones and new copper washers.

Jack up the front end right after driving a bit and see if the front wheels are hard to turn.

Did you mean i turn them manually with my hand or automaticly ?

You would turn them by hand to see if the brakes are dragging. Brake dragging will cause poor fuel economy.

Does your CRD have an EGR valve? In the USA, they used an EGR (exhaust gas recirculation) valve to meet emmission requirements. If this valve gets stuck in the open position, it will send exhaust gas into the air intake all the time, which results in poor fuel economy also.

Is it winter in your area? A bad thermostat will cause the engine to operate at a low temperature and cause bad fuel economy too. Also, winter fuel has a lower btu which will require more fuel to be burnt.

I have installed inline (in the hose) thermostats in all three of my Jeeps to keep the operating temperature up to 195 degrees (the thermostats have all failed in my Jeeps and a factory one is too expensive).

Yes , I've a EGR Valve, i checked it and it's smooth and don't stuck in any position.

I changed the thermostat with a new one , the operating temperature is allways around 90° C (195°F).

First, thanks to all of you for your replies.
I'll try to explain the situation better.
I've bought my car a year ago with this problem, and i tried a lot of solutions to solve it.

[*] I replaced the timing belt with the 2.5L 2.8L Diesel Engine Setting Locking Tool Kit AM-5056.
[*] I changed the thermostat with a new one.
[*] I cleaned the catalytic converter
[*] Changed all filters
[*] Cleaned the map sensor
[*] Repalced the 4 Injectors with new ones , with new copper washers ( wihtout programming cause didn't find the DRBIII)
Knowig that my engine version is the one without the FCV( Flow Control Valve) and MAF/ORM.

I notice that it consumes a lot when the engine turns when it parked.
When i let it parked, after few minutes, the white smoke with fuel smells began to go out ( not oil problem cause the oil level is not affected) , and the smoke volume begin to increase progressly. when i start driving, the white smoke disappear even with a full speed.


after all, can it caused by software? my ECU must be updated?

Ps: sorry Jay ne Ohio, i noticed that i didn't reply to your previous question, front wheels aren't hard to run.

Did you check the turbo VGT control? If it is stuck, it will effect your fuel mileage...

The white smoke that smells like fuel is, most likely, diesel fuel that isn't being burned for some reason. Maybe it's over fueling for some reason? Not sure why it's only doing that at idle though. Maybe it's doing it all the time but since you're moving away from the exhaust as it comes out, or it is coming out at a higher rate you are not able to notice it? If you rev. the engine at idle or in park does the smoke get worse or better?

I wonder if this is the right reference.
