well, i finally installed a CB in the liberty, inside the arm-rest console...very cool, very hidden. i hot wired it to the power feeding the power socket on the dash. i was about to hot wire my XM converter as well, i had cut off the cig lighter plug, and then i noticed that it's only 6 volts....i nearly smoked the converter. any ideas, parts, that i can use to hot wire the converter so i can loose the cig lighter plug and hide the wires? thanx bob

If you open up the cig lighter plug, you could wire into it's transformer instead of cutting off the plug.

I find it highly unusual that it's only 6 volts. What model is it? My SkiFi2 is def. 12 volts - I spliced it into the head unit's power feed and ground.

If you don't feel comfortable soldering to the inside of the plug, they sell hard wiring kits over at www.xmfan.com as well.

The other option, which is what I did, was to buy a cigarette lighter port and splice that into the head unit's power feed. Then you simply plug in the XM Cig adapter and stuff it all behind the dash. Radio shack carries em for around $8.

Just pull the head unit out and splice into the harness that plugs into the back of it. For the 2005 premium system (C1 22 pin connector) it's Red - B+ and Black/Light Green - Gnd, for the 2005 base system (C2 10 pin connector) it's Grey/Yellow - B+ and Black - Gnd. Probably different for 02; might want to check your service manual.
