I've been considering that also but will put OEM heavy duty cooling in first. (Mechanical fan)

the kk transmision dipstick have different levels at different temperatures, so with out an accurate temp reading tool you can over or under fill the transmission.

I added the OEM HD cooling fan and I've never seen the temps go above 210 since.

Adding another stand alone cooler to the trans will not do a lot.The KK uses a stand alone trans cooler that have little luck keeping temp spikes in check from high load use or heat soak.

The best trans cooling setup is one that uses a regulated cooler like a in-radiator trans cooler then routed to a AUX stand alone cooler. To bad a KK has never been offered with a radiator that had a trans cooler. To bad since routing it through the radiator helps bring the trans temps up faster for better operation in cold weather but helps keep the temps down better and faster under high loads/heat soak.Granted if you overheat the engine you just toasted the trans fluid also.

My KJ came with a in-radiator trans cooler and the temps would sit about 175 degrees normal and 190 or so when pushing it hard. After adding a AUX cooler after the in-radiator cooler and the temps normally see 150 degrees and pushing it hard is about 175-180 degrees.

Troy, aren't the thicker horizontal sections on the top of the radiator the built in trans cooler? That's what I read somewhere on the forum, and why I thought the aux cooling fan would help keep the trans temp down as well as the engine temp.

I think that's the A/C condenser coil

Ok, here is a video by etrailer.com showing the installation of their aux transmission cooler on an '08 KK. They splice into a transmission line coming back from the OEM radiator, so there must be some transmission cooling in the radiator. It just may not be as much as some people feel comfortable with. Here is the youtube link if you'd like to watch the 3 minute installation video: http://youtu.be/SAs8rgF7nb8

The only trans cooler in a KK is a stand alone cooler that is the top few rows of the AC condenser.Any KJ with the 42RLE has a stand alone cooler in front of the AC condenser,KJ's with the 45RFE have a in-radiator trans cooler with a option of a added AUX cooler with HD cooling/tow package(in series with in-radiator cooler).

even adding it in series is an advantage.
