The EGR on my project CRD is causing a drumming sound at idle (even though I removed the pipe and put a block off plate on it). Pulled the MAF plug and it went away for a minute, and then came back. Swapped MAF and same problem. I'm sure it's shot, but is there another easy way to disable it in the short term? Or is this the FCV? I pulled the plug on FCV and got same symptoms. :dizzy:

Simply completely remove the the EGR valve along with all its plumbing along with the cooling lines and plug them. Get the Weeks FVC delete kit and completely do away with the FVC & EGR. For the short term till you can get a Weeks kit, simply remove the plate out of the FVC, real simple, just remove two screws and slide it out. I did all of this on mine last year and ran it for several months until Weeks came out with the FCV delete kit. :JEEPIN:

Thanks man, I wasn't sure if the FCV was the sound, or if it was the EGR oscillating, but I pulled the flapper like you said, and no more drumming sound :BINGO:

Does this mean that the FCV is bad, or is the EGR bad and causing a the FCV to act up? hmm, yeah, I should have ordered 2 of Weeks intake kits...

Does not matter which one is bad! Get rid of both! You can run with the flapper out of the FCV from now on if you want to or until you can get the Weeks kit. The EGR; get rid of it and all of its plumbing including all the cooling lines. Less things to go sour! :SOMBRERO:
