Installing my RL bumper is almost 100% complete. Just minor details like trimming wheel well liner, adding my LED fogs/spot lamps, and deciding what to do about paint vs. line-X.

In the process of removing the old factory bumper, I found an odd item mounted to the drivers side internal bumper-brace (almost directly below the drivers side turn signal) behind the factory plastic bumper. When I started to unbolt this thing, I thought it was the horn, the heaviest horn ever. Lol.
It seems like a counter-weight, or a vibration dampener, or something? Weighs approx. 20-25lbs. No wonder Jeeps all lean to the drivers side if they are adding this sort of thing!? I'm trying to figure out what this is, and if I need to put it back on?

...I figure between the old bumper and the mystery item, I have almost broken even with the new steel winch bumper.

I thought those were sacrificial annodes to help keep corrosion down.
They only came on KK's in northern states and Canada.

It does look a little rusty, and I haven't noticed any funny shimmy-shakes over the last 4 days since removing it.
Does anybody recommend I put it back on, and for what reason? You would think that Jeep would have thought to put it on the passenger side to help even out that drivers side lean.

The square black boxes (Wheel speed or pressure sensors?) in the front wheel wells, can those be moved? I am trimming my liners after having installed the new RL bumper, and if I can move those up (but not any further away), it would make a huge difference in clearance.

...pictures and write up coming soon :pepper:

When you remove the plastic fascia and black bumper guts, there is part of the frame that runs right to left on the front. In order to access the holes for mounting the bumper on the drivers side, i had to remove the mystery part to access the holes. Behind, and inside the metal bumper support.

...guess i will add a subsection to the write up when i get it done this weekend. Lol.
