So in other words we can't use the tuner to adjust the tire size without getting an error? Great. I'll make sure I send them an email as well. I'll probably give tech support a call tomorrow.

Haven't heard of a KK or a Mopar being able to do it successfully yet. No big deal for me, since I'm rocking a stock size.

No response back from Hypertech IT. Left a message on Tuesday. I guess I'm gonna have to revert back to stock tires and just keep the engine tuning. Rather have my speedo be off 2% than no esp/bas all the time. The engine tuning is definitely worth the tune tho. The engine revs so much more responsively. I'll give IT a call today and see if they have any updates.

I had the same issue, reseting to stock size fixed it. I emailed hypertech about it and they were working on it. If more people do, hopefully the extra info will help them. From what I can tell, the problem is due to how the tire size is stored in the Jeep, its in both the TIPM (which the speedometer uses and hypertech reprograms) and in the ABS module (which it doesn't). The mismatch sets the ABS fault because the two values disagree.

***UPDATE: 5/1/2014***
A Hypertech rep emailed me back today regarding the ESP/BAS fault issue. He said a patch should be ready soon. I'll post his response below. If anyone else has this issue send an email to techsupport@hypertech.com. I'll post another update in this thread when the patch becomes available for download.

I'm sorry to hear about the problem and we'll do what is needed to assist. We have found that Jeep has different ABS computer configurations in certain vehicles and unfortunately you have one. We are currently working with another customer with the same issue. We have acquired a test vehicle to correct the problem which should be ready soon. Once the issue is resolved you'll be able to download a new update via the internet using the supplied software. Send me the serial# off the back of the Max Energy and the VIN# off the vehicle and I'll enter your information into our system so you'll be notified when ready.

Thanks

Jim

Have an '11 KK and would love a hypertech tuner. I understand that they don't make them for the 2011/12 models. What would happen if you plugged it into an '11? Has anyone tried?

If you go to their website and make a request, they claim that they have tuners that work for the 11s. I still have to email them about that, just haven't had time with finals lately. I would kill for one though...

As far as I knew I thought the 52501 worked for 2008-2011 and didn't work for the 2012. Although, their site is misleading cause the tuning setting just says something like "For 2005+ Jeep, Dodge, Chrysler Engines"

Got an email back from Hypertech which made me sad.

"I was wondering if Hypertech is going to to be coming out with a max energy power programmer for the 2011 Jeep Liberty. Currently you have the programmers for all years except the 2011/12 models. Would I be able to use a 2010 model for my 2011? Thank you in advance for all your help."

"We do not offer any type of tuning device for this particular vehicle,we may eventually but no word as to when at this time. I recommend using the link below to enter a product equest and we'll notify you wheneve rsomething becomes available. The 2011 and newer have major changes to the computer.
Thanks, Jim "

Wow, Jim's a busy guy. I wonder what's so drastically different between the 2010's computer and the 2011?

To put it basically, Chrysler changed all their computers for 2011 increasing the encryption. The "Hemi Guys" faced a similar issue. For them I think Diablosport is the only one to successfully break into the computer.

I wouldn't hold my breath for support for the 3.7 since our Jeeps were the last to use this engine. It's really kind of sad that Chrysler went to all that programming work to lock out the lame duck 11-12 Liberty but didn't bother to give it the 3.6 for that last two years.....

I believe 52501 is the Hypertech Max Energy Tuner for the 2008-1010 KK. I've heard that the 5200 Model is the same thing, just older programming, which can be easily updated with the current programming via USB cable.

I've been meaning to update my post. Its been a bit over a month and I've definitely noticed a difference in both my driving and gas mileage. I was averaging about 260 Miles per tank (about 15 mpg) prior to installing the "Regular" Hypertech tune. I've been trying to drive more "conservatively" over the past week. I've got about 320 miles on the odometer and I'm at just under 1/4 of a tank (used about 16 gallons) so just about 20 MPG!!!

Between the acceleration boost, subtle yet noticeable shifting adjustments, and gas mileage boost, I'm definitely glad I got one. I wish that they'd release the update to allow us to fix the speedo, but eh, not a huge deal. I think its only off by like 2% or so anyway.

These sound like significant gains, but I am wary of the law of thermodynamics that says you can't get something for nothing (or was that Rush? :jester: ). I just wonder how much extra wear & tear the engine gets along with the extra mpg's if it is subjected to a leaner, hotter burn over time? Is there any data on the long term effects from Hypertech? I would very much like to get better mileage and power, but with my brand new Jasper engine I think I will pass for now.

If my previous post seemed too pessimistic, let me lift your spirits. There is a 52501 tuner for sale on the South Jersey Craigslist for only $150. :D http://southjersey.craigslist.org/pts/4473765604.html

Keep in mind when I said I drove "conservatively" to see how high I could get my milage I meant I literally did like 55 mph on the highway for like a week. I haven't noticed my RPMs any higher than usual. I have noticed it seems to have changed the shift point between 3-4 because if you floor it in 3 it revs A LOT higher before it shifts to 4. (I have an automatic btw)

Either way, going from 15 to 20 mpg is awesome. It's like getting gas for $3 a gallon instead of $4 a gallon. I was referring to what the tuner does inside the engine, adjusting the O2 to gas ratio to get more power. But you're right, there are many factors at work, including shift points and driver input.

Mine's still going well, just took a 250 mile trip towing my trailer and averaged 16 mpg. The same trip last year before I had the tuner was 14 mpg. I'm not quite sure what type of witchcraft / perfectly reasonable explanation is in play here, but it definitely works. Just taking a wild guess, the factory tune was probably designed for lower emissions and gaming the EPA mileage tests.

I just wish I didn't have to reprogram it every time it goes in for service.

So I have a 2011 Liberty and was wondering if I am S.O.L. on getting a hypertech or any reprogrammer?
