Since I could not find where the vent hose originally connected; I cut about 1/2" off the end the hose where it was split, added about 3 feet of 3/8 fuel line hose using a barbed connector. I routed the new hose up and terminated it just behind the fuse/relay box, plenty high.
I could tell by looking at the end that I cut off, it was connected to something at one point as it had a full clamp mark impression into the rubber.
This hose goes to the top of the transfer case, I traced it from underneath and looked everywhere for the original connection point.
Odd thing I did notice while under there, the vent on top of the transmission housing has a very short hose about an inch long with a plastic vent cap on the end. If you were to in water high enough to get to the top of the transmission water could get into the housing?
I may just tee transmission vent into the transfer case vent hose for added safety!
Anyone ever done this before, and could it cause any problems tying the two units together?
I could run a separate hose just for the transmission if it would be a problem.
