That is something to be aware of, but by the same token, there are many many people that have registered and never post anything. They are the legion of Lurkers.
In any transaction like this, it is always best to do the sale face-to-face with cash and title trading hands at the same time. Variations on that are at your own risk and judgement. I look at any vehicle or large-item purchase as always an as-is where-is situation. If I don't see it on/in/with the item... It doesn't exist or factor in to the price negotiations.
I just purchased a $30,000 motorhome, from (of all places) a Craigslist posting. It took 3 trips up to Central Florida to get it done, the first 2 trips were inspections and getting ducks in a row, then trip #3 was the actual collection of the coach and payment - Which in this case happened to be a payoff to the bank. The seller had his reasons for wanting out, I haven't found anything critically wrong with the unit, but he had priced it significantly less than the blue-book value. Basically, his price was the payoff amount. That alone was a bit of a red flag for me, which made me VERY carefully look at the unit for anything suspicious. Surprisingly, I found nothing of real concern. Primary reasons for such a low value would have been body damage from water intrusion or fiberglass damage - soft spots on the walls... These are things that the average buyer wouldn't know to even look for.
Research is key, and looking at the item / seller in person, and trusting your gut instincts.
I wouldn't count anyone out just because of a low post count... Not everyone is as much a loudmouth as I am.
