Anyone? I'm in Kingston, all I have is the dealer... I need to do my timing belt, not sure if I want to do it myself but I might have too. Dealer wants 1500+ tax not including the water pump and tensioner.

Well I suppose if you really don't want to do it...you could see if Keith at GDE will do it and make the 6.5 hour roadtrip. Might be a fun adventure.

$1500 sound about right for a dealer up here. I'm assuming this is "by the book" i.e. replace belt and idlers and inspect the tensioner. The WP is an unknown but I wouldn't risk not replacing that tensioner. My biggest concern would be whether they're capable of doing it properly.

That price for doing it in Canada is not bad at all assuming it includes the belt and idlers and that they know what they are doing, the latter can be iffy unless they have done it before. That said I'd add a) serpentine belt and idlers (parts cost only as the belt and idlers have to come off to get too the TB; b) TB tensioner (takes like 5 minutes so shouldn't cost much more than for the part); c) water pump likely should be done while you are in there (if they are willing to replace only the fron 1/2 where all the moving parts are it's the cost of the parts plus 1 more hr labor).

Keith is a good alternative if he is willing.
