New CRD owner

Hi all,

I wanted to introduce myself as a new CRD owner. My wife and I picked one up last week, Inferno red Limited with the khaki/greystone leather interior. We had a silver 05 gas previously that was fully loaded and got the dealer to swap over the chrome rims for us. Very sharp looking truck! So far we're really happy with it. About 600 miles on the clock and the mileage has been great. We got a calculated 22.4 MPG from the first tank (with B5 fuel from the factory....EVIC said 23.9). We're still on the second tank now and the EVIC says 27.1, so we're probably around 25 or so (about 70% hwy, 30% city driving in the Omaha area). Tomorrow I change the oil with Rotella 5W40 synthetic and then we're going on a road trip to NM. Can't wait to see how she does!

Anyway, I'm glad I found this forum. I've learned a lot already. I'm already planning on an exhaust for the future and Old Navy's CCV when it is ready. I do have a question.....do you guys prefer to use the factory oil filter or is there another brand of filter that is acceptable?

I was asking about oil filters here just the other day. People gave several recommendations with part numbers for Purolator, NAPA, and others. Go here and take a look:

Thanks for the welcome guys. Couldn't wait and ended up picking up the Mopar filter. I bought 2 of them, so they only cost me $10 each. Next time I'll go with a Purolator or NAPA Gold.
